SSFII Turbo HD Remix "very soon" News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

21 October, 2008

Capcom, teasingly, has told us Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will arrive on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 "very soon".

The publisher couldn't clarify an exact date, however - presumably due to unpredictable XBLA and PSN certification processes.

SSFII Turbo HD Remix is, of course, a revamp of the fighting game from 1994 - the first of the series to feature Akuma and super combo moves. Super Street Fighter II also introduced characters Cammy, Dee Jay, Fei Long and T. Hawk, while the Turbo part of the name added faster and more difficult combat.

The HD Remix brings 1080p redrawn graphics to the gable, plus a remixed OCR soundtrack and plenty of OCD tweaks to the painstakingly balanced fighting formula.

Head over to our Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix gallery for the very latest shots.

1080p? I thought it was 720p.. all the screenshots here are 1280x720 anyway.

Can someone point me to some 1080p screenshots please?

I found some 1080p screenies... The health bars and portraits look nice and sharp, but the character models seem scaled up.

http://www.gamershell.com/static/screens...

Here the character outlines look a bit blurred and DeeJays leg has scaling artifacts. So are the characters only redrawn at 720p, or is there some other reaon for the slightly worse image quality?

The game art looked ugly way back when, and the high-def doesn't do it a lot of favors.

IMHO of curse.

It's 1080 - that's what was causing 360 so much problems before.

360 problems? Don't think so. The issue was having 2 soundtracks included while remaining under M$'s size limit for XBLA games.

Wisely they relaxed the rules as this is a high profile game.

Looks good. Animates like a flash game.

I'll probably wait for SF4, thanks.

I hope they add more animations to the game, as seeing in motion before it played very choppy and chunky. More animation is needed today, otherwise it'll look good but plays clunky esp compared to SFIII.

More frames would change the game completely. There is NO way they could effectively detect collision boxes and special move hit timing online with fresh animation. They could barely fix the lag for the original on Live.

It doesn't need more frames, looks good, plays good. All I need.

I will never buy another street fighter game again for the X360.
The digital pad sucks enormously for those hadoken or ( even worst ) shoryuken.

Geez Euro Gamer, how many times are they going to make you write these little snippets about the game? If it's out very soon they should just get on with it 0.o'

But yeah I agree with Dark Phoenix, the 360 pad is simply horrendous for 2D beat em ups, it feels awkward and unresponsive.
Will still be getting this though, maybe a Hori stick someday too.

They could possibly double the animation frames without borking the gameplay.

The purists would probably still moan that their timing is off though.
