SSFII Turbo HD Remix changes listed

Examine the tweaks in minute detail.

Capcom has outlined the changes made to each character for its upcoming download release, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, in fascinating detail.

In a post on the Capcom-Unity blog (where else?), associate producer Rey Jimenez listed every tweak and consideration for all 17 characters, demonstrating the subtlety of Capcom's adjustments, breathed into Street Fighter canon like soothing words sliding under a closed bathroom door to a huffing spouse.

There are tweaks to durations, distances, damages and directions, and additional fakes and moves modified to work as reversals among other things. Advanced players can nullify fireballs with Honda's jab torpedo, use Blanka's ball attacks with less fear of being taken down during recovery, and reach a low Dhalsim with Zangief's punch lariat, to name a few, while certain characters appear to have been reined in, like Balrog.

Novices keen to try out Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for its 1080p redrawn graphics, remixed OCR soundtrack and famed accessibility might find this all off-putting, but rest assured that even a complete dunce can steer Ken to the odd victory, and the game's charms - like those of its forthcoming big brother, Street Fighter IV - reveal themselves quickly enough to keep you interested.
