Serious Sam 3 revealed News

PC News by Robert Purchese

14 May, 2007

Croteam has revealed it's working on the next instalment in the Serious Sam series.

Serious Sam 3 will feature the same "in your face" gameplay that's made the series so popular, and be built on new technology in the form of Serious Engine 3.

No platforms have been detailed, although we expect it to feature predominantly on PC.

The developer spilled the beans in an interview with Croatian magazine GamePlay, revealing it alongside a new game detailed as a "military tactical-action shooter" that takes place in the present day.

Other details were scarce, with a spattering of concept art and renders accompanying the article.

We expect 2K Games will publish the games, although nothing has been announced and we're waiting to hear back from them.

But we're excited, that's for sure.

Hope this does come out on 360. Between this and EDF, crazy old-school shoot-'em-ups FTW!

I'm struggling with seeing "Serious Sam" and "military tactical-action shooter" in the same sentence. I mean honestly, you could write a tactical guide to Serious Sam on the back of a postage stamp.

Good news anyway, it's a great if mindless series.

I think there are two different games in development: Serious Sam sequel and the military game.

Hopefully Serious Sam 3 is more like the original games and less like the watered-down XBox version.

"Hmm I think i'll shoot a car-sized cannon ball at that horde of animated skeletons before I take out that giant lava monster" is about as tactical as Sam gets.

And it was f***ing brilliant.

Yeah, other sites reported that Croteam are working on two games, both powered by the Serious Engine - Serious Sam 3, and the tactical-action shooter.

I know, I know, I shouldn't look at other sites, but it's so hard to resist... :(

With all the mission-based FPS games around at the time, the first Serious Sam game was a breath of fresh air. I hope this gets released on Xbox 360. Oh, and car-sized cannon balls FTW.

I'm from Croatia and I can confirm that there are actually two games in development, one is Serious Sam 3 and the other one is a "military tactical-action shooter". From what I managed to gather from the article, they're being simultaneously developed for the PC and the Xbox 360, while Croteam also plans on porting all of their new technology (and presumably games?) to the PS3.

LOL man I still remember after so many yers when the first one came out and I was playing that on my pc with my best friend back then. Also from the only pc games that had splitscreen coop. That thing with the headless monsters screeming and coming from everywhere was the funniest shit ever, since my friend would always get surprised and screem for himself. Or i would watch him passing right infront of me with all of them running behind him. good times... good times... Serious Sam rulz. From the only games I wouldn't play on the xbox. I first saw it on the pc and always play that one on the pc.

Serious Sam 1 was a blast
But 2 was dire - full of childish kids stuff, I turned it off after 10 mins in embarrassment.
