No Manhunt 2 date despite Nintendo claim
Rockstar comments on NUK release dates.
Rockstar has declined to confirm Nintendo's claim that Manhunt 2 is due out for Wii in Europe this August.
"We have no confirmed release date set for Manhunt 2 in Europe," a Rockstar spokesperson told Eurogamer this afternoon.
Manhunt 2 was originally banned by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) but after resubmission and a protracted legal battle the BBFC gave up and issued it with an 18 certificate.
The game launched in the US on Wii, PS2 and PSP last October.

I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway and after watching some videos of censored gameplay on youtube I'm definately not going to bother.
But I'm so glad to see that this country still has even a little bit of freedom left.
@Darren & Saladin:
The first game was never banned in the UK. After it was falsely accused of causing the murder of Stefan Pakeerah certain shops (including GAME, Dixons and Currys) refused to stock it. Although as it happens you can still by it new on PC from my local GAME.
EDITED FOR SPELLING

This is not censoring on Nintendo's of Sony's part, but Nintendo and Sony making sure that Rockstar kept the promises it made in the first place.

Nope, that's Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft as well running scared of the big bad AO rating, you couldn't really say that refusing to publish games that got rated AO was anything other than wrong-headed. Why, because the whole thing adds up to an AO rating being a de facto ban/pressure to self-censor

the only way i am ever going to consider this game is in its original uncut directors cut. the point of the game was shock value and gore. you don't go and see SAW for the writing, people didn't flock to the coliseum of Rome to make sure health and safety were up to scratch, and people don't slow down and look at traffic accidents because they hope everyone is just dandy. they wanna see a severed head or something.
this games audience was never critical thinkers, or people who want to appreciate art, or even those who need good game play (you know the kind. the ones who don't complain at watching the kills in the first game, instead of executing it themselves, or MGS4 fans for half the game being cut scenes instead of gameplay.) or children for that matter.
it had a target audience of adult gore voyeurs, niche at best in Europe, was never going to be a major seller.
they have gutted it now, so that even their niche audience doesn't want to know.
art or entertainment or interactive movie, the point was clear until censorship came along.
i don't want censorship offal thankyouverymuch. and i couldn't give a fuck about the kids.

That's what I mean. We can philosophize all we want about Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft's stance on this, but as businesses it's in their every right to choose whatever they want to allow on their products. That's not real censorship, but rather it's business strategy. Just like Rockstar as a business has every right to choose the platform for their game. If they wanted to make and release an AO game, they should have made it for PC.
Again, if Rockstar chooses to develop a game for Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft, then they know it can't be an AO game. It will be in their contract as licensee even. It isn't censorship on Nintendo's and Sony's part if they then still make an AO game and afterwards have to tone it down. You might as you say call it self-censorship, but that's completely Rockstar's fault for choosing Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft instead of the PC to develop for.

Quite right mate. My mistake and I'm really sorry I actually read your comment and thought you'd made the most sense so far.
I just put your name in instead of "dadrester". Again sorry, I'll be more careful next time. *slinks off in shame*
