No Euro God of War III demo this year News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

16 October, 2009

Sony has told Eurogamer that the God of War III demo will not appear in Europe this year.

Not unless you count the playable version at the Eurogamer Expo, of course, which is fast approaching. Buy a ticket! It's only £6 a day!

The only place to download a God of War III demo before 2010 will be Japan, where a sampler is bundled with inFamous (released yesterday) as extra purchase incentive. Demo codes can be redeemed from the Japanese PlayStation Store from 19th November.

God of War III will be released exclusively for PlayStation 3 in March 2010.

I hope the game itself comes out in Europe at the same time as the rest of the world (we don't need to go back to the bad old days, when PAL games were months late).

They already said it was 2010.
I'm importing it... if it can get through the bloody Royal Mail before 2010 that is...

It's like Sony doesn't want to sell the PS3! The demo should come preloaded now on all new consoles so that people are more tempted to chose the PS3.

You can pre-order the GoW Collection for the PS3 from the US and it apparently comes with a GoW III demo code. It is released in December I believe. I pre-ordered my copy from Movietyme yesterday and it came in at just under £29 with postage.

no need to worry fellow GoW fans - if you're like me, you'll probably be importing the GoW collection (1 &2 upscaled + trophies) anyway, and that disc also contains the demo.

edit: Darren beat me to it. good to see Kratos' legion is still out there

If there wasn't so much already coming out, I'd definitely import. As it is, I might as well just wait for the European release. Easy enough to download the demo from the US/Japanese marketplace though, if it goes up anywhere without needing a code.

Is the GoW Collection going to be released in Europe? Just curious, it's getting increasingly simple to import games from abroad, I was just wondering if us 'hicks' in the EU were going to get a proper release.

So now they are only offering demos as incentive. What happened to the good old days where they gave you betas?

EG we hope you arrange proper queues for popular games like this one because queuing for the most two popular games (SFIV, Gears of War 2) at last year's expo was awful.

yes it is, but it will be in 2010.... god knows why, it's not like the games haven't been fully localized when they were released for the PS2

Thanks, had a quick google but couldn't see a release date.

I might wait until then rather than import it - so many other games to play!

That makes no sense whatsoever. They'd have to buy the machine in the first place to play the demo, which defeats the point of it being an incentive. Assuming you mean that playing the demo will make people go "wow I need to buy this game!" instead of assuming that people will buy a £250 console just to play a demo, which is retarded.

Come on Sony, We here in Europe have been a lot kinder to you than the US and if you keep treating us this way there will be a time when you'll find that the one market keeping you competing with MS will also abandon you.

Which is exactly why we're not getting a demo, cos some people love that brand above reason.

^^ But Japan is far more loyal to the "brand" but they still get a lot of nice stuff and their PSN games actually cost less than retail too.

Edit: Well I know I won't be buying the PS4 unless there's a major change within Sony and they start treating us the same as the US at least.

...so inFamous was first sold with Uncharted beta codes and now with promised access to a future God of War 3 demo? You would think that Sucker Punch's stellar action game would be strong enough to stand on its own two feet...

It's a day 1 purchase for PS3 owners anyway, surely so who'll miss a demo? I've never played a demo to date. Some reviews (which are always out before the game anyway) and a pre-order if I'm REALLY keen always does me fine.

That said, SCE need castrating for many offenses, this being a minor one.

Er Marshall, I think you need to purchase a Jap copy of InFamous to get the download code. Spewing - would be nice to see the demo, but it's not like we haven't got Uncharted2 to keep us going for a good while.

As far as Peew thinking it's a bad idea not waving it around as a system seller, it actually makes sense; with Uncharted being everywhere and showing the PS3 in the best possible 10/10 light right now, holding off GoW3 until that hype has died down (and to pump up sales after the customary post Xmas slump) is rather sensible. Firing off two of the biggest exclusives at the same time would be daft, and anyway, makes the terminal Xbots suffer even longer.
