Prey demo coming soon
Next month, to be precise.
3D Realms has announced that a demo of PC and Xbox 360 first-person shooter Prey will be released on June 22nd.
The demo will let you play through five levels of the game, and try out both the single and multiplayer modes. It'll be available for download via your PC and also through Xbox Live Marketplace.
Prey sees you taking on the role of Tommy, a Native American garage mechanic who finds himself trapped aboard an alien ship alongside his girlfriend and grandfather. With the help of a ghostly hawk named Talon, he must find a way of surviving on the ship, rescuing his girl and saving the entire human race from extinction.
Prey is due out in the US this July, but a European release date has yet to be announced.

I love downloading demos, try out new games from the comfort of your armchair and then decide if its worth 40 quid.

Mainly because that is all my USB drive will take.

However, I have not been that inspired by this game yet, and the generosity of this demo seems to in some way hint that I'm not the only one!
Obviously I'll be downloading it and trying it out for myself wich is great, but there are other titles I'd rather see demos of (Viva Pinata, GoW).
I just hope that by next month there'll actually be space left on the old HD what with the masses of E3 content I want to have a look at.
EDIT: Talha - I don't understand why this is a factor??

The strange thing is is that I really thought I would like it and was looking forward to playing it. Am I missing something?

Of course, if and when I get a bigger drive, my 'preferences' will change drastically.

Rubbish, lad! Back int my day demo's were called "shareware" an' bods like Apogee - and later on, id- paved way wi' multi-level releases o' titles like Commander Keen an' Doom. Gives yer a feel fo' game proper. Grand, I tell thee...

And for the record: Prey has had a lot promise ever since it was first announced nearly a decade(!) ago. It's final incarnation looks to capitalise on this and then some. If this game turns out to be less than an 8/10 on either platform I'll be appalled.
And for those drawing direct comparison with Doom III, you should note this one has quite some story behind it, plenty of variety in its environments and monsters, and some very interesting weapons. Which, on paper alone, makes Prey far superior to Doom III already...
Edit: Double-bad Ingrish. Added links.
