Prey for change

New maps, chars. 360 and PC.

Fresh from getting drunk and going on holiday, Human Head Studios is busily working on a 1.1 patch and some new content for Prey.

According to project-lead Chris Rhinehart, fans have been crying out for better duel maps, and as a result a new update for both PC and 360 will deliver four that are more suited to playercounts of between two and four.

That update will also introduce six new player characters - four girls (Jen, Elhuit, Mother and Becky) and a couple of Hunter characters (Hunter and Elite Hunter).

All that's on top of a round-up of bug-fixes in the shape of the 1.1 patch, which deals with a number of high-profile issues. While Human Head works on that, 360 developer Venom will be putting together a similar update for that version focused on addressing lag issues that affect Xbox Live multiplayer.

For more information on what the Prey teams are up to, including bug-fix specifics, check out the 3D Realms website.

Must be the ghost girl who attacks you at a few points in the game?

completed this last night (I know, I've been busy ok?) Is not a bad game but not a fan of the multiplayer.

So we are going down the PC route of releasing a game then fixing it a few months after? Me not likey. I'm all for new content being made available for download but this just takes the piss when developers abuse XBL like this.

On the other hand at least XBL offers them a way to fix games but it's still not right though.

While I've nothing against new downloadable content (provided it's reasonably priced, of course!!!!), it's becoming increasingly depressing hearing developers say that they're planning on releasing patches for Xbox 360 games to fix things like bugs and online lag, which really should be sorted out BEFORE the game is released! For goodness sake, the Xbox 360 is a fixed spec platform not a PC!

Lag on the 360 online? LAG! I thought I was reading a fucking comic book!!

    @Darren

MS's QA team clearly aren't doing their homework. I was under the impression that all games are screened before release to ensure they pass all the required quality levels before hitting the shelves.

I hate games like prey which purposefully release too early when their live service is utter crap and unplayable. DON'T RELEASE IT IF IT'S NOT READY

I cant wait for the 360 patch. The on-line at the moment is barely playable.

Becky is supposedly the name of the blonde women you see tied onto the slabs early on.

How about, I don't know, working on Duke Nukem Forever instead of downloadable content for Prey?

    Two words - Marketing spend.

    Negative Zero...

Human Head coded Prey and the extra content... Not 3D Realms. (But I wouldn't count on this making any difference to the arrival of DNF).

Anyway...I know a seperate patch was released for the 360 version of Prey about 2 months ago to address the lag and it did seem to make a difference. Anyone know if this download also includes any further netcode improvements ?
