Bully to hit Europe in Oct too

First trailer available.

Rockstar has confirmed that Bully's October release date applies to Europe as well - and released a trailer for the game.

Earlier this week a British Board of Film Classification spokesperson seemed to put the boot into the company's struggles with the controversial title, claiming - based on the ratings board's knowledge of submissions - that "it isn't anywhere near ready".

But speaking to Eurogamer yesterday, a spokesperson for the publisher not only confirmed the US October release date, but confirmed that the US and European dates would be very close together in late October - much as its Grand Theft Auto titles are often handled.

Since then the company has also released the first major trailer of the PlayStation 2 title, showing off plenty of in-game footage.

Hmmm, what I could glean from the trailer regarding gameplaym, with all this repeated talk of "I need you to get something for me, it kind of looks to be not much more than GTA set in a school.

That may be a good thing, it may not.

Meh... seems a little dull. But i'm sure the controversy will make it sell by the bucket-load

oooh so it's against bullies not what every parent and their dog automatically assumed from a first impression.

even though the first impression was the title bully.

why don't rockstar create a game where you have to dig up and rape dead celebs or they'll turn into zombies!

or how about one where you've got to kill all reality tv stars?

Or a jack the ripper game where you carve up hookers?

I just want a subgame where I can superglue gerry halliwells face to the bottom of a bath and turn the tap on tbh.

I've got a shit load of humble pie for the dozens of people who were slating this for letting you play the bully a few months back.

All you can eat, for free.

From the trailer, it actually looks like it's for once a game that has something to say.

And it certainly doesn't seem like the expectations are true. The main character isn't the big bully at all, at best he's the top dog of the bullied. The new kid whogets the rejeted up top and destroys the established order. Kinda like a lot of those highschool films.

To me it doesn't look like a game that has something to say. It's just an another Rockstar homage, this time to high school movies and series. Even the trailer was so full of cliches. We'll see how it works out.

I was expecting a hardcore darts game a la table tennis.

That looks decidedly "meh". Same old shit in a different environment and the visuals are very ugly thanks to the increasing age of the PS2.

But, like others have said, the hype will sell it.

I'm pleased to see that there won't be a lengthy period between regional releases for this game. Looks to be a lot of fun. :)

Furby writes: "Odd. The look of the school looks very English, although there appears to be cheerleaders, and thats very US."
The game's set in the US, in case you were wondering.

    Yeah! John Hughes the game!
  • geepersd #15 6 years ago

it looks a lot like bullies are bullied themselves and depending on the light you view it in could easilly be seen as justifying bullying which probably won't go down too well in certain circles

    I'm surprisingly interested now :]

It just looks like typical teen-movie material.

Gotta applaud Rockstar for trying some new genres. I am getting tired of all the B-action and RPG.

"Gotta applaud Rockstar for trying some new genres."

You're joking, right? This just looks like another mission-based action game, which isn't new at all. Unless you're talking about using a school as the setting, which has already been done by Harry Potter. It's not like they're being original in that trailer because it looks like every '80s teen comedy out there.
  • spongebob #20 6 years ago

No, I am not joking. There hasn't been any games in a LONG time using this genre (school, teen angst). YOU have to be kidding even to mention Harry Potter.
  • Placebo #21 6 years ago

Personally I'm looking forward to it, almost reminds me of playing Skool Daze and Back to Skool on the old rubber keyed Speccy :)

"No, I am not joking. There hasn't been any games in a LONG time using this genre (school, teen angst)."

But that's not a genre, it's just a theme. If there was a school-genre, you'd be studying math and history.

Ive been waiting for this game since last september when it was first announced. They have kept on delaying it and to find out that its a garentee for october has got'en me all exited.Im gonna preorder it as soon as the preorder button comes up on play.com.This is too all those jackasses who are completely slating this game befor its even got on the shelvs. This game is a first of its kind,i mean the whole school genre thing. And the fact that you can now beat up bullys gets me all syked.Trust rockstar, when have they ever let you down(apart from state of emergency which was the biggest load of crap ive ever played). And to think, school geeks can now take out their anger on bullys in this game.Every ones a winner!
