Oblivion PC patched

Bug fixes, mainly.

Bethesda's released its promised Oblivion patch, sorting out a number of bugs in the PC version of its critically acclaimed RPG.

Although an Xbox 360 patch isn't out yet (expect an "auto-update" soon, obviously), the PC one is quite slight, at just 1.6MB, and deals with obvious problems like infinite gold bugs and the ability to duplicate items.

It also sorts out some more serious things like problems with save-games (apparently down to using the Tab key during character name-creation), as well as keyboard, input device and other silly Windows problesm.

Full details on all the fixes can be found online at the Elder Scrolls website, and you can go ahead and download the patch from Eurofiles at your leisure.

when the 360 patch is released, will it undo the glitches effects in a game? i.e. someone who's utilised the easy gold glitch will loose all there money? if so, how will it work on purchased items?

I think I'll hold off playing any Oblivion until the 360 patch is out. 15 hours in and I haven't encountered a single problem, but why tempt fate?

By the way the correct UK PC patch is 1.2MB in size. The 1.6MB one is for the US only.

    1.2 Mb only?

    Colour me impressed :)

Well, im something like 80 hours into the 360 version, and I came across a total of three real bugs.

Once with the Daedric quest that causes a crash (got round it), one where two people seem to magically be stood in every jail in the land, and another with an un-killable NPC who is 'stuck' not doing the next bit of the quest.

In all that time, ive had a handfull of crashes when loading, and occasionally had it get 'stuck' when im casting magic while I go through a door (fixed by loading the last save), but considering the scope of the game and the sense of it being a real place, thats *very* good.

I might actually start a new character, and try and be good this time...

360 patch isn't out yet Yossarian, I guess we have to allow the Yanks time to wake up!

80 hours in and I can't do the mages quild quest and get to the arcane uni because the npc with the ring of burden has gone missing from the well. oh well!

Nice one Bethesda, you managed to produce an official patch which is less stable than the beta one from a few weeks ago.

    Tits.

    Rumpy, from the update notes:

"In the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest, fixed an issue where Vidkun's body would disappear if you left the well".

I hope it returns once you patch it :)

It didn't work so I figure It fixes the problem for new games started. Probably doesn't sort it if the game is already started which is a bit of a pain. Oh well never mind :-)
