Dead Rising demo soon

Plus, new trailer on Live.

With summer eating us alive, attention's turning to the first delights of the upcoming third and fourth quarter release schedules - and Dead Rising is chief amongst the early feasts.

It's due out on September 8th in Europe, and Capcom's just whacked up an extended trailer on Xbox Live Marketplace, which you can check out now. And if you do, you'll be pleased to note that a demo is "coming soon".

Hopefully that means it'll be up in time for our release date. Capcom already has a good record in this regard; Dead Rising will be its first Xbox 360 title, but 360 owners can already download a two-part playable demo of its other big exclusive, Lost Planet, which isn't even out until next year.

Dead Rising is due out on September 15th here (although that appears to be a movable target), but it'll be out sooner in the US, with a release set over there for August 8th.

We'll let you know when the demo goes live, so to speak.

Update: Capcom sends word that DR is due out here on Sept. 8th, not 15th as it said on its press site. "Moving target" was quite prescient then!

    First!

and a very excited first it is too!

YAY! to capcom for their demo policy!

and another YAY to SF2, which I believe is out tomorrow?

I'm avoiding Dead Rising as much as possible till it gets released - you can already spoil like 50% of the game for yourself if you watch all the media they've released

Oh man I can't wait for this, it is one of the main reasons I bought an 360!

    Launch release my arse ;)

look at capcom screwing us europeans once again, the americans would have played this for a whole month by the time we get our hands on it.

Meh... I've seen a few videos of this game, and it just looks so incredibly bland to me.
  • special_move #6 6 years ago

This is actually out on the 8th of Sept, not the 15th. One week sooner!
  • Mr_Bogus #7 6 years ago

    Yay it's below £40 :)
  • penhalion #8 6 years ago

It has like a stated 3 hours of game per play so I should bloomin' well hope it's less than 40 quid!
  • special_move #9 6 years ago

Actually game lasts more than 3 hours now, nearer 6 for a quick play through.
  • The_Foo_Fighter #10 6 years ago

My bloodlust will finally be satisfied. Can't wait!

I played a demo last November (Zero Hour) and it was a bit buggy then but bloody good fun before it locked up.

I can't wait for a more stable one that's had 6+ months more work done on it.
  • special_move #12 6 years ago

Trust me it's worth the wait, most fun I've had on 360 to date (sorry Oblivion!)

Saying it has 3 hours of game play (or even 6) is missing the point. That is the time it takes to play through once but you will not be able to see everything in that one play through. The whole idea is apparently you will be able to play it through loads of times and see different stuff every time.

I guess the real total game play time will depend on just how many times you can play it through and still see and do new things before it becomes stale.

It's also a high score type game so another way of thinking about it is it is designed to be played through multiple times to try and beat your high score. I would guess there will be Live score tables as well to compare against.

Sorry, but this game sounds so..so..state of emergency...

/wonders if anything more needs to be said
  • jlaakso #17 6 years ago

Kudos to Capcom. I've played the excellent Lost Planet demo lots.
  • special_move #18 6 years ago

    agrees with glaeken

On your first playthrough there's pretty much no way you'll see most of the game. As time keeps flowing you need to try and squeeze scoops in between the main story and without careful planning and mad skills you'll miss most of them the first time through.

as for the state of emergency comparison: NO NO NO NO NO NO!

Dates! I want dates god dammit!!!
  • Dizzy #20 6 years ago

A lot of people at E3 thought this was game of the show. Looking forward to demo.

People saying "OMG 3 HUORS??? SUXXOR!! LOL" (paraphrasing slighty) are missing the point like an American Missile misses its target. Its a true sandbox game, like GTA, which features replaybility for eons. Also I hear you can un-lock a mode which lets you just keep playing with no time-limit.

If the following does not appeal to you this game is not for you:

You change into your boxer shorts, place a Servobot head on and run screaming into a zombie hoard waving a toy lightsaber, later you put on your suit and race through the warehouse with a lawnmower seeing how many zombs you can total before they gangbumseks you. The next day you run around dressed as Megaman ramming showerheads into zombies skulls which results in them staggering around with blood showering from them....

all to a soundtrack of your choosing, mine will be Wont Get Fooled Again by The Who

    :)

    Bela Lugosi's Dead, surely?
  • EmiliasHorse #27 6 years ago

This looks along with Lost Planet to be Capcom coming of age on Xbox.
Genma Onimusha was good but a direct port with added hardness, Dino Crisis 3 was sadly pants and Type 'S' racing was well....not as good as all the other racers around at the time.
Loved Lost Planet demo and can't wait for this. With Resi 5 next year they are really spoiling us.
  • dllord #28 6 years ago

The damn yanks get it a whole month early! WTF!!!!
