Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is back

Out November, Criterion developing.

EA has revealed Criterion's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and announced a 16th November 2010 release date. No formats were mentioned.

The game will feature full careers to play through as both racer and cop, and an Autolog mode that connects you to friends playing the game.

A trailer showed rivals chasing each other through expansive forest and desert environments in Lamborghinis, Koenigseggs, Pagani Zondas and Bugattis - even the police were driving such exotic cars.

"To us, Need for Speed means exotic cars, epic drives and hot pursuits," said the Criterion producer introducing the game.

Autolog will allow you to "connect, compare and compete with friends". It will recommend in-game activities based on what your friends are doing and their scores and times relative to your own. It will nominate a friend on the rival side of the cop/racer divide as your Most Wanted.

Criterion developers played a multiplayer pursuit match on stage. The cop, in a Lamborghini Diablo, chased a racer in a Gallardo through a Redwood forest setting.

They had nitro boosts available, as well as other actions on an on-screen d-pad. The cop could call in roadblocks and deploy spike strips on the road.

The game will be available to play on the show floor, so look out for a report as soon as we can get our hands on it.
