Mythic hints at WAR's Orc Choppa
New career teased with Governator prank.
Mythic continues to have fun with Warhammer Online bloggers and tease the announcement of new Warhammer Online classes this week. The MMO's developer has dropped a very heavy hint that we'll see the Orc Choppa soon.
The Greenskin has received a package containing a DVD of classic 80s action flick Predator, and instructions to watch it at one hour, 16 minutes and 16 seconds in.
That's when governor of California and Austrian man-mountain utters the immortal line, "Get to da choppa!"
This follows last week's riddle, in which Keen and Graev's blog received a slightly more cryptic package hinting at the unveiling of the Dwarf Slayer career. Both parcels included a card promising more information this Thursday, 29th January.
The Orc Choppa is a berserker-style melee fighter, and was originally planned to appear when Warhammer Online launched in September last year. However, it was pulled alongside three other careers and when, according to Mythic, they didn't prove fun enough.
Two of these - Empire and Dark Elf tanking classes - have already been reinstated. Going by the latest hints, the Choppa will return, while the Dwarf Hammerer will be replaced with the Slayer.
We'll know more soon, and you'll find it - along with everything else WAR - at the Warhammer Online gamepage.

Every MMO class should be based off an Arnold quote
'Frost mage' = 'lets kick some ICE'

I left as all my friends were Destruction, but I hated both the mellee dps classes from that side.
Just cant stand the looks and design of the maurader, the witchelf was (probably unfairly tbh) too similar - in the weak points - to the rogue i played in WoW for close to 4 years. Im now playing Deathknight as my main in wow and loving it.
I loved the Chosen... but tanks/healers never appeal to me in these sorts of games. I like to run around poking people with my 'epeen' and making them cry, hehe. The mechanics of the tank classes wore thin for me. :/
I loved so much about WAR, the devs have my best wishes and goodwill.

Hehe, for some reason that reminded me of the WoW adage, behind every good mage is a priest out of mana.
Normally I'd be right with you there, the DPS classes are usually where it's at but I love my Rune Priest: industrial strength levels of enemy annoyance in a 4' 6" package, especially when guarded by a tank.
And my KOTBS is at that level where he's starting to get those features that make him very interesting in battle, with a healer or two behind me I can take on a number of enemies approaching infinity.
Coming from WoW myself I think the healing and tank classes are awesome in WAR, a game where a healer can do something else other than just healing. The in combat res is especially fantastic, and often underused.
Choppas and slayers though, that's gonna be a sweet patch.
Edit: finishing a couple of sentences.

I play a Chosen, and it really isn't in any form a healer. It has an aura which returns an ickle bit of health, but if you have any decent healers nearby it's pointless using it when you could be buffing everyone's strength, or reflecting spell damage back to casters (especially bright wizards - I hate those ginger goons!). Lvl 23 now, and in the last scenario I did over 60k of damage, which was quite impressive for a tank! Although a magus did over a quarter of a million points of damage...
I have been wondering about a melee dps char though - got a low level witch elf and they're fun, but they're basically "pop out of stealth, waste a squishy, die" sort of thing. A melee dps that can take a few hits, and have a big choppa, that would please me!

Wasn't saying the chosen are healers or healer/tank hybrids. Just that while those roles are important they just arent for me. And The Chosen is designed around tank mechanics.
I got to a certain level with my chosen (think it was just under 20) where i couldnt run up and reliably kill people in pvp unaided.
with a dedicated healer and support etc the class could be fun, and I was enjoying the solo play but it just lost its shine... still love the look and feel though.
My witchelf was lvl 30-something when i quit. Tor Anroc's narrow walkways surrounded by lava... getting punted into lava almost evertime i left stealth... stealth itself being weaksauce and temporary meant I just lost my patience - and a fair bit of hair and tears before giving up.
Best ever moment in WAR was a spontaneous battle me and some friends started in a chaos/empire Tier 3 zone i dont recall the name. Suddenly the zone flooded with players and their was a massive back and forth push for ground between the sides.
a small group of us broke off and flanked the order frontline and ganked their healers - which resulted in a massive rout all the way back to their warcamp... pure liquified awesome.
WOTLK stole all my guildies though so i followed. I love Lich king but still hold fondness for WAR

Article is called On Slayers and the last line is particually interesting; "Death walks with the Slayers and now they march upon the battlefields of WAR".
