Mafia II formats set in stone News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

14 April, 2008

2K Games has officially said Mafia II will be coming to PS3, 360 and PC.

The formats had been unconfirmed up until now, with sofa versions bunched together under "next-generation consoles".

Key to the charms of Mafia II will be its grasp of the fresh hardware and what that offers, with plush visuals already sighted and various promises made.

No official date has been set for the game, but recent financial papers revealed that it won't see the light of day before November this year - so we'd expect 2009.

2K Games expects more information to be available soon.

It's hard to see how this could have a storyline a) from the very obvious continuity issues apparent to anyone who played the first one through to the end (not going to provide spoilers here) and b) because having used up Goodfellas, the Godfather and Casino in the original, it's hard to see which Mafia-themed movies are even left that they can rape for fresh plot material in the sequel.

I hope the game is nothing but the grand prix race from the first game over and over again, but with landmines all over the track to make it more challenging

I'm looking forward to the Megadrive version. Did the preview mention whether it features parallax scrolling and 256 colours? ;-)

@thisisatempaccount They already seem to have used another Goodfellas riff in the trailer (body banging around in the trunk)... Still, since the first game there's been pretty much the entire run of the Sopranos for them to pillage!
