Konami reveals Euro MGO tourney

Fight for prizes in teams of six.

Remember Metal Gear Online - the online component of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots? Konami's announced a new six-versus-six competition for it.

The tournament will be Europe-wide and furnish the winning team with MGS4 Edition Astro Audio headphones. These cost around $200 to buy and come with their own amp to plug into your consoles - high-end audiophile stuff. Want.

The team that finishes second receive six Astro Scout Backpacks, and third place get Astro MLG Mission bags.

Runners-up will be given Reward Points redeemable in the MGO in-game store.

The tournament starts on Friday, 26th February at 7pm GMT/UTC. Smash over to the official MGO competition site to take part.

    Does anyone still play this?! I used to love it but lost interest when the game became even more headshot orientated than it already was. And my lack of skill with dual analogues left me in the dust.

    Tried this again a week or two ago, levelling system seems "odd". There was a cluster of folk on level 0 and level 14-16 and no one in between. Controls are too clunky for online imo. Rainbow Six does similar tactical gunplay online better.

    Used to love this, but as said previously the headshot became the only way to go. Also, I got quite pissed at the way your level could go down as well as up- basically meant I sat at level 7 forever :/

    Yeh i still play. Its a hard game if you have skill you get far :D. Just people find it too challeging not like MW2 ect.

    I play daily. And yeh ill be up for this :D

    i stopped playing this when they started releasing stupid sized updates tht had u keep ur ps3 on ALL DAY and even then they didnt manage to get downloaded! i think only a hardcore minority of japanese gamers are still on this. and konami, if u relly want ppl to carry on playing this, all u had to do was add trophies ;)

    MGO is so underrated and under appreciated, it's such a shame because it is easily one of the best online multiplayers out there. I know it's mainly to do with the terrible registration process it had at the start though.
    However the comments above are very weird, most FPS or 3rd person shooter has the quick kill head-shot advantage for those that can master aiming for them. I've has as many shots to the body as head or explosive damage in that game too, it all depends on evasion skill plus in free battle you can toggle head-shot kill on or off.
    As for the levelling system it's based upon your ability(as well a little luck I guess) if a lower level than you takes you out a lot then you level down, if you take out a higher leveller a lot you level up - simple. I think it's quite well implemented actually.
    Also if level/status is more important to you than having fun with the game I think that's pretty shallow and vain. It's much more fun to level up the skill/perks than a status symbol.
    By the way the game is now linked to your PSN wallet for all actual monetary purchases too so you can't say that any more either !

    Although I'll admit, we're not super skilled at this game like some.

    Just finished browsing their website to have a gander at the runners-up prizes.

    Without trying to sound too much like a kill joy isn't using their products ( in the UK at least) a bit like painting a big cross-hair on your back as "the guy with 300 odd pounds of kit on his person"? :0)

    I haven't seen anyone on my friends list play this since a few weeks after release! :/
