Gyllenhaal: POP film is "massive epic"
Actor also praises ostriches.
Donnie Darko reckons that the upcoming Prince of Persia film is unlike any other videogame-to-film adaptation, and has assured fans that none of the ostriches in director Mike Newell's production are computer-generated.
"Real ostriches. Live ostriches. Not CGI. There is a not a CGI ostrich in this movie," Darko told Moviefone (thanks vg247). "They are all real ostriches. Highly paid."
"It's an experience I'll never be able to do again," he added. "Well, I mean hopefully ostriches will come back again either in re-shoots or in the second one."
Elsewhere, the actor defended the film against the stigma attached to previous videogame adaptations, suggesting it's a bit more serious than BloodRayne or the popular but ropey Resident Evil series
"It wasn't like your normal video game adaptation," he explained. "It was this massive epic that they had in the works, this real classic story that was emotional and real and filled with just ridiculous turns and twists. And that's what makes it intriguing to me."
The Prince of Persia film is due out in May 2010 and tells the story of the Prince's attempts to contain The Sands of Time, which allow the holder to manipulate time to his own ends. It stars Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamima and the Prince is played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Nope, no idea.

Sounds like BS to me!

Personally I'm hoping this one hits a 'Pirates of the Caribbean' level of expectation exceedsion.
Also: Persia movie features no actual Persians. Of course they are all extinct after 300.

From the article and trailers this means; a heavily CGI genreated film with CGI landscapes and CGI buildings and CGI explosions, but at least with real ostriches, featuring an English accented persian Prince hero running around an europeanised middle east (presumabley in bullet time and reverse time) trying to save the world from sand, whilst his likely love interest is the Princess... which would likely be his sister...?
Well, he's right. Never ever seen a game-film adaptation like that before. Hope its still a good watch
