GOWIII demo for everyone next week?

GAME website suggests as much.

The GAME website seems to indicate that the God of War III demo will be generally available as of 25th February.

The demo, which originated on the show floor at E3 last year and went out to US Qore subscribers earlier this month, is available today for people who pre-order the game via the UK retailer.

"Details of how to access the early demo will be emailed to you on 19th February," according to the small-print (thanks VG247). "Anyone who orders after this will be emailed on 24th February. As of the 25th February the demo will no longer be exclusive to Game.co.uk."

We've asked Sony whether this means the demo will be released on the PlayStation Store next Thursday, 25th February.

God of War III is due out for PlayStation 3 on 19th March. Check out our Eurogamer Expo hands-on for more on why it's kind of a big deal.

    It's a good time to own a ps3.

Perhaps just means other retailers get the deal too?

It's certainly a nice demo (I got it with the GoW collection), especially the new dynamic lighting effects. My favourite bit is in complete darkness where you only have the light from your blades to guide you. There's quite a shocking amount of gore too, I can't see how it will fail.

Fighting my way through 1 and 2 at the moment on my PS3. Looking forward to the third iteration. I am sure Sony will release the demo soon. It only a matter of time

I wish GoW collectors editions were available in Europe now. Can't understand why they are not.

I don't care about the demo. wats happen to the ultimate trilogy edition? is it going to be sold or not? typical sony, annoucing things and then go completely quiet. anybody has any clue as to what the situation is with the ultimate trilogy edition? anything at all?

    @ deepspacefox

thanks, but problem is it doesn't seem sold out. the listing has completely been yanked off. even in my account page my preorder status says it removed for sale. people at game don't have a clue, and if the playstation blog is to be believed its because the UT edition is not being released in europe to fill US orders. that would just be wrong if thats the case. and the nice folks at playstation blog is also keeping mum. nice ain't it.

I'm immensely excited about playing GoW III (that's not something I say often) so I was disappointed when I imported the GoW Collection from VideoGamesPlus in Canada, only to find the promised GoW III demo was missing (admittedly I wanted the collection for GoW and GoW II in HD).

I've heard the framerate in that demo was a bit wobbly though so maybe this will be a new improved one? I didn't bother will either Bayonetta (didn't like the demo or character) and Dante's Inferno (the demo seemed a bit middling) because I knew GoW III was just around the corner. I hope it's as awesome as the first two games...

    @Farticus
Agree - hopefully a new demo, I don't see the value in chucking out the E3 one again. You would have expected there to have been significant engine changes since that was produced. I don't think it was originally intended for such widespread public consumption in the first place.

it's probably a pre-order bonus. let us get through Heavy Rain first though lol.
  • deepspacefox #11 2 years ago

    @ Dark Moon
The ultimate trilogy edition is exclusive to Game but it's no longer on their website so I guess it's sold out for now.

Anyone who wants the demo now, just buy a US copy of District 9 on Blu-ray. It's region free, you get a digital copy, a PSP copy and the GOW III demo. The movies cool too.

Farticus, I know I've been away for a while but last I heard you werent interested in the PS3. Have you sold out man?

As for GOW3, I'm waiting for the inevetible PS3 bundle before I jump in.

Only recently bought a PS3 (longtime Xbox owner). Have so far only completed Flower and Uncharted 2, so very much looking forward to this as what will hopefully be another great chapter in my PS3 induction.
  • mg1011 #14 2 years ago

I was amazed how good flower looks. It's a bargain at it current price.
  • Thunderbolt #15 2 years ago

Farticus, just busting you balls mate :)

I'll be getting a PS3 too after I trade my PSP and some games. Looking forward to Drake, Heavy Rain and GOW3

  • NinjaWilliams #18 2 years ago

  • BlackANUS #19 2 years ago

I'm in agreements with Farticus and Darren.

I got the God Of War collection and played through both games before turning to the GoW3 demo (which was provided as a DLC Code) and I could not believe how horrible the experience was.

After playing both remixed versions of GoW 1 & 2 @ 1080p 60fps, GoW 3 had much nicer textures but the slowish framerate and what appeared to be no Anti-Aliasing just kind of killed it. For what they are, the remixed versions are pretty awesome and the graphics/textures don't look too bad especially as GoW 2 probably looks better than some games created with the PS3 in mind (ie Yakuza 3).

NOT EXCLUSIVE TO GAME. Make a story out of nothing. It says the demo won't exclusive to GAME but it doesn't say it will be free to access for anyone and everyone.
  • VMerken #21 2 years ago

Will buy to complete collection. Will try to see how gameplay shifted.
  • darc #22 2 years ago

Will the reviews all say "God of War III is another game that's a lot like God of War"?
