Game still on target.

LucasArts has insisted upcoming Star Wars sequel The Force Unleashed II remains on target for an October release despite the executive producer's decision to quit.

Executive producer and writer of the Force Unleashed videogame series, Haden Blackman, resigned from LucasArts yesterday after 13 years with the studio, IGN reports.

"I've had a fantastic time working with the team at Lucasfilm and am really grateful for their ongoing support," Blackman said in a statement.

"While the decision to leave LucasArts did not happen overnight or come easily, I really feel that now is the best time for me to move on and explore new creative challenges and I look forward to the next phase of my career."

LucasArts said Blackman's departure will not affect the game's development.

"From launching Behind the Magic to delivering Star Wars: The Force Unleashed I and II, Haden has been an invaluable member of the team during his tenure with the company," LucasArts told GamePro.

"We are extremely grateful for his many contributions, fully support him in his new endeavours and wish him all the best in the future."

if the game is past development and just waiting for final touches then ill think its safe to buy the game personally.if he left and the game is still in development then i figure he did a half baked job directing it,meaning ill wait for reviews from you players before buying it.

Fair play to the guy - anyone working on one single IP for 13 years is bound to have had more than enough. Now all we need is for his replacement to be up for pushing a XWvTF revisit...

I don't understand why he couldn't have just waited to see his final game through to release, then quit. It's not like there's a long time to go till it's out. Anyway, if it doesn't affect the development, then that's fine I guess.

I enjoyed the first game but regret actually buying it. I got through it so fast that a rental would have been more fiscally responsible; which is the approach I'll be taking this time around.

The only true talent in unleashed was the the programmers ability to create the effects in the game. Ill wait for a review before I think about buying.

Er, no...another venture into the XWvTF gameverse would be infinitely higher on my list than RC2. So, whilst I appreciate your desire to see said title, consider things un-fixed.
