Force Unleashed demo on Thursday
For 360 and PS3.
Activision Blizzard has told Eurogamer that a demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be available this Thursday on Xbox 360 and PS3 and detailed its contents.
The sampler casts you as the Secret Apprentice, sent by Darth Vader to duff up some Jedi bloke who is smashing up a TIE Fighter construction facility. The Force Grip power will come in handy, and no witnesses can be left alive.
This Dark Side focus carries on throughout Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where our Secret Apprentice gains strength as Vader's student, flexing infinitely more interesting Dark Side powers such as Force Choke and Force Lightning.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is heading to Xbox 360 and PS3 on 19th September. Alternate versions will be available for Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP on the same day.
Head over to our hands-on first impressions of The Force Unleashed to find out more. [Waves hand.]

Some of the previews I've read are harsh, especially given the usual unwritten rule of not being overly critical in previews. I'll still try it, but I'm not optimistic at the moment.

I will play the demo but, I doubt that I'm going to be buying this.
Time for another Jedi academy or Dark forces game I think.

Yes they are, otherwise no one would have checked out ep 2 and 3 after that horrendous first one. Medicloryans and whatever.

Yes it does look cool, but it just feels dull.
I'll give it a rent but thats about it.

Had to stop half an hour in, because it was boring me so much.
It kinda reminds me of Assassin's Creed. Looks darn pretty, but is actually a complete snoozefest.
Think I'll take a raincheck on this one, George.

Personally i think this game will rock. Yes dismemberment could have been in, but it's not.. so why whine about it.
The graphics are stunning and the controls feels allright.. the camera is can be a bit tricky but okay.
Wait for the full game.. it has a ton more to offer than this small limited demo.. but even with this small demo.. the game looks very promising.

Definitely gonna preorder this one.

Also, I'm really amused by people whining over lack of dismemberment. Name one (1) non-modded Star Wars game that had dismemberment. Jedi Knight let you cut off a hand IF you were lucky. Noone seemed to QQ about that back then.
Anyway, I was really cautious about this game for some time, due to my geekrage at LA amping the force so much in this title (bringing down a star destroyer with the Force, anyone?), I wanted it just to experience the story. But this demo proved to be so much fun, over-the-top force didn't bother me that much, now I'm getting it for both the story and the gameplay. Happy me.
EDIT: Oh, and while I loathe QTE's with my whole beating heart, I really, really think this is the first game where they were done right - not too fast, not too slow, basically just a formality to end a fight with a big enemy. Another pleasant surprise, another proof that tastes differ
