Europe to get free Patapon demo News

PSP News by Robert Purchese

30 January, 2008

Sony has had a rummage down the back of the sofa and told us European gamers will get a free sampler of Patapon after all.

It goes live in the PSP Store on 21st February, and is the same demo-to-final-save taster that US fans get when pre-ordering the title from Gamestop. Ha.

Demo-to-final-save means you can transfer your saved progress across to the retail copy when it finally arrives. You also get your hands on a rare Spear of Protection to carry over, too.

Patapon is a quirky side-scrolling tactical-rhythm action something-or-other from the maker of LocoRoco. However, it is a little more complex than the latter, although just as stylish.

Patapon will be out for PSP on 22nd February. Head over to our Patapon review to find out more.

Bollocks, i've order the US version of the game, which presumably wont work with the save generated from this demo.

The game doesn't need a demo, buy it now. If you don't like it you can kick my arse.

I was about to "WOOT!", but if this is only on the PC version of the Store, and not the PS3 version I won't be able to download it until Sony come up with a Mac compatible download client. I do have an ancient Windows ME laptop with a 14.4k PCIA card modem, I wonder how long it would take to download it on that?

this is great :) it's like getting the game a full DAY before release, and getting a free weapon to boot!

Woohoo!

I've been using my PSP more and more lately, most of that can be blamed on Disgaea. Looking forward to this.

Been playing the Japanese version for a while now and it rocks - very quirky and very funny.

Well, if it's only a day before the actual game comes out, I can probably live without, although the LocoRoco demos were unique from the game itself, and rather excellent.

Apparently there's a magic spear thingie you can only find in the demo, though I'm sure it makes little fundamental difference to the gameplay :)

Feb 22, thy name is buyer's satisfaction. My awesomeness banks are braced for overload.

Awesome news. First the free demo and now this. Now all I need is for the game to carry a 20€ tag and I'm all set to get me some pata-pata come the 22nd.

Make it happen Sony.
