Battlefield 1943 sells over 600,000
Sets records too complicated for headline.
DICE and EA have announced that Battlefield 1943 is the fastest-selling day one and week one downloadable game worldwide in Xbox Live history, and has taken the same accolade on PlayStation Network in North America.
That amounts to more than 600,000 copies sold, apparently. BF1943 costs 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20 / €14.40) on Live and £9.99 / €12.99 on PSN.
What's more, players of both versions of the game have long since hit the requisite 43 million kills that unlock the fourth map, Coral Sea. Xbox 360 owners managed this in five days, while PS3 fans were only a few days slower, doing so in eight.
Announcing the record-busting numbers, the developer/publisher duo also reminded us that players whose trial versions expired are able to get another 30 minutes of play on both systems as of last weekend.

"One other thing is the AA guns are too powerful, and too short a range, they need to hit targets further out but take twice as long to shoot a plane down, you get a tiny window of opportunity and then it takes 3 shots....it's hardly balanced."
you have short range and as such you do high damage at a short range, because you have such a small window of opportunity.
If they had a longer range they would have toned down the damage... the only point of the AA guns is to hassle planes in that area...
Take Iwo Jima (pretty sure thats the cresent moon shaped island) there is an AA gun in the middle between the airfield and the other cap point. if it had longer range planes wouldnt be able to fly in that area as that AA gun could cover pretty much most of the island...
AA guns also cant aim lower down than horizontal... if you are getting shot at by an AA gun drop to below ground/ship level and your safe...

I'll chime in with the DLC sentiment. Its too early ATM but a month or so down the line it would be nice to have some new stuff.

I do hope that EA, and other publishers as well, sit up and take notice of what can be produced and sold (presumably for profit) at a very low price point without compromising overall quality. I really wasn`t expecting much of this game, but the half hour with the demo soon proved me wrong and it was an instant purchase. Hopefully, if they do release more maps as DLC they won`t start to get all silly over the pricing of those.

didnt know ps3 had hit the limit though i better go check the map out..
edit: for some reason the flight controls are uninverted from the off, i was like "WTF!?" when i 1st tried flying, unless people like uninverted flying

I once fired one at an enemy chopper, he launched flares so the first one missed. Fired again, the missile was on track to hit the chopper, when suddenly it did a right angle turn for no apparant reason, and shot down a fully loaded friendly black hawk instead.

Although the lack of team kills took me by surprise considering that this is a Battlefield game I have found it much better with the more user friendly auto heal. No team kills has also meant a better gaming experience in my eyes since the only times that team kills happened where due to glitches or some stupid prick who wanted the jeep before you!
