Bad Company 2 patch next week

Console update coming 11th May.

DICE has announced a new patch for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 that will fix balancing issues on the console version of the game.

The update, set to hit 11th May, will change damage and recoil statistics for a variety of in-game weapons, and fix a few bugs that prevented weapons doing the right amount of damage.

The console update will also implement a host of balancing tweaks that hit the PC version of the game last month. In the other direction, DICE says the update will be applied to the PC version of the game "in the near future".

Those interested in the specific changes coming can read all about it on the Battlefield blog.

I do believe the M60 is still there, it just wont be as ridiculously overpowered as it used to be. You are a medic after all, not Rambo.

Activision would charge £11 for this

    as well as bumming you.
  • frugtkompot #5 2 years ago

The M60 will still there, but it'll be harder to run'n'gun with - as it should be - and it'll allow other LMG's to be useful too.

Looking forward to the game being balanced. It'll be so much better because of it.

they need to fix the kicked due to no connection bug

bout time m60 got fixed. no word on uzi getting fixed as its stupidly good from a distance.

Hallelujah, K-Jah! I can't express how happy I am to finally see this patch coming our way! Especially looking forward to increased health in Hardcore and reduced damage from the explosive shells of the bloody helicopters I've come to hate with intensity. All too often you see lvl 50 guys that are invincible helicopter pilots. They ruin the game for everyone.

I wonder if this patch will finally introduce HUD transparency? Us plasma owners have had to resort to playing Hardcore all the time after it became clear how quickly the glowing green ammo counter against a black background produced image retention.

    scopes for m14, come on!

I hope they fix the back to dashboard crash, maybe i was unlucky but it's happened 5 times in the last couple of days :(

    These changes are looking good.

Here's hoping they address some nasty bugs aswell.

My main problem with the game are the random disconnects from the server. The disconnects will make you lose all of your progress. I already experienced a hand full of them, losing like 4 hours of XP progress. It really pisses me off.

The strange thing is, my lost progress is still stored on the leaderbords, thus my rank being higher there than at my soldier's page. There must be a way to sync them properly...

Now if only this fixed the stats problem for the Thompson and M1.

    Uh-oh.

Dice are a class act. Addressing balance issues with an already 'pretty' well balanced game.

  • Zaiz #13 2 years ago

Any word on a fix to the godawful PC server system? Yes? No? No? Okay, Dice. We know. Console is just so much better, because you don't have to worry about your game building a community that lasts longer than two years.
  • gaztech #14 2 years ago

or being pirated to high heaven and listening to the ever-so-vocal pissy whiney PC community...
  • Chufty #15 2 years ago

One day, gaztech, consoles games as you know them today will go in a direction that you don't like. Then you'll be 'pissy-whiney' like we are.

Unfortunately a typical Dice patch - they changed too many things at once, so many aspects fell from one extreme into the other.
  • Blazewamp #17 2 years ago

The M60 is fine you just need to aim a bit now :)

the pc's server browser and new filters are working nice and fast

    Stuff that genuinely needs fixing:
-stats for some weapons (Thompson and Garand most notably) don't seem to be tracked correctly.
-base raping, something needs to be done to stop it. Atacama Desert especially, I've had too many games ruined by being spawncamped by complete cunts. In the Battlefield games of old, you'd just start a vote to kick anyone who did it, simples. Since you seemingly can't do this on a console, how about making it so the enemy base itself is outside the area your team is allowed to go in? Likewise Arica Harbour Conquest, I've seen far too many games where one team (inevitably the one that starts on the hill) spends the entire game pinned in their base by snipers. (I'd note the jungle map where you start with boats has the attacker's base out of bounds for the defenders)
-There should be a way to remove the targetting darts from your vehicle instead of just waiting for them to time out - how about letting us grind them off with the repair tool?
-how about letting all non-sniper classes go prone, at least, so we can hide from all the overpowered snipers?
-the 'spot' button is far too hit and miss. If I am able to fire at and hit a target, I should be able to spot it too. Too many deaths hammering 'back' trying to spot an enemy vehicle or soldier.

On Isla Inocentes, 2nd wave, MCOM station A is destroyable with a melee if you know where to hit it. It deffo needs fixing.

does this mean roadkill in a vehicle, especially the quad bike will actually work properly. you have know idea how many times iv'e run someone over in that thing only to be shot in the back because it didn't work. please let this patch fix it thankyou.

Actually, the spot button "overheats", it works just like the repair tool so you should try spot 1 2 spot 1 2 spot etc

Nice hint, i'll try remember that.

Atacama Desert especially, I've had too many games ruined by being spawncamped by complete cunts.
    That drives me mental.
It's so not fair, you spawn then there's 3 guys looking at you. even if you kill two of em which is good going some other bastard will kill ya.
I just quit out of those games.
  • metalangel #25 2 years ago

Yeah, I tend to just quit as well. It's a shame as when everyone plays sporting it's one of the better maps. I played the other night and my team were winning 15 tickets to 3. But they commenced base raping and prevented anyone doing anything except spawning and immediately dying. We lost.
  • asharkman #26 2 years ago

Maybe they should measure the amount of base deaths and if it starts getting obvious that people are being slaughtered they start spawning people around the map.
Or right behind the people that are spawn camping.
That way i can stab those mofos in the back!

Is there a patch that will mean I can actually hit a cow's arse with a banjo? Thought not. I've never loved a game so much that I am so hopeless at.
  • asharkman #28 2 years ago

Anyone who is interested in the spawn camp "issue"

"Is there a patch that will mean I can actually hit a cow's arse with a banjo? Thought not. I've never loved a game so much that I am so hopeless at."
Just keep practising dude. I was REALLY bad when i started. This was the first FPS multiplayer game i got into.
After a good few hours i started getting some decent kill / death ratios.
Check out some tutoriasl on the net, there's a fair amount of tatics to the game and if you nail one or two of them you'd be surprised how good you become.

@TruWar3r: didn't realize, thanks! @asharkman: Interesting but depressing reading in that link.

    @asharkman

Thanks for the hints, my man, I appreciate it. I'll keep plugging away because it's such a damn fun game, even if it means at least one squad a night has the equivalent of Private Godfrey from Dad's Army fighting their corner.
  • t8yman #33 2 years ago

@ blazewamp - no it wasnt in the console versions, I did it last night on the 360.
