Rez receives special recognition in Japan

And about time too!

GameSpot reports that the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Art Festival has honoured Sega/UGA's Rez for its representation of modern art in a videogame. Previous games to receive recognition from the Agency include Sega's Seaman and Phantasy Star Online and Nintendo's Pikmin.

Rez was originally released on Dreamcast and later appeared on PlayStation 2. It's a highly stylised third person shooter famed for its use of sound - in fact, the whole game is about sound, building up tunes through your various chains of destruction. Earlier this year we truly fell in love with it.
