Nintendo nerfs Diddy Kong in Smash Bros. Wii U patch

But Diddy need to be changed this much?

The latest Super Smash Bros. for Wii U patch has introduced a range of balance changes for much of the game's character roster.

But the fighter that has been most affected is Diddy Kong, DK's diminutive sidekick, who was previously regarded by many players as being overpowered.

The character's attacks now cause less damage, upset Diddy fans have reported. Moves which have been reduced in power include Diddy's aerial attacks, throws, Banana Throw and Monkey Flip.

Nintendo does not detail the balance changes it makes to the game's roster, but fans have been compiling a list over on the Smash Bros. Reddit.

Most moves have seen their damage reduced by two per cent, with knockback also removed.

The new patch, which went live yesterday, also includes 8-player support for more stages and allows players to download the DLC character Mewtwo.

Mewtwo will soon be available to buy for all Smash Bros. players (priced £3.49), but anyone who registered copies of both the 3DS and Wii U versions via Club Nintendo should have received free download keys for the character yesterday.
