New Splinter Cell: Blacklist video shows off controversial torture scene, moral choices

Gears of War: Judgment writer calls it "disgusting bulls***."

A new Gamescom trailer - below - has been released for Ubisoft's upcoming multi-platform stealth/action title Splinter Cell: Blacklist, due early next year.

The trailer is an expanded version of what was shown at E3, but it contains an extra controversial scene where players are asked to rotate an analogue stick while Fisher digs a knife into a man's clavicle. Afterwards, Fisher is asked to make a moral choice between killing or sparing the dude he already severely f***ed up.

"Sam will do whatever it takes to retrieve crucial information before it's too late," creative director Maxime Beland explained.

Gears of War: Judgment co-writer Tom Bissell called this scene "a blithe, shrugging presentation of the very definition of human evil, all in the name of 'entertainment.'"

"We've arrived in a strange emotional clime when our popular entertainment frequently depicts torture as briskly effective rather than literally the worst thing one human being can do to another - yea verily, worse even than killing."

"I spent a couple days feeling ashamed of being a gamer, of playing or liking military games, of being interested in any of this disgusting bulls*** at all," he added.

Elsewhere in the demo, we catch a glimpse of Sam remotely controlling an aircraft raining down rockets upon his foes, which isn't exactly stealthy.

So, what do you make of this brasher, more sadistic Fisher?
