Official interactive Prima Skyrim map free on App Store

Catering to adventurer's knees.

Update: Unfortunately, this app is only available to people in the US.

"Received news from Prima that the guide is only available in the US," read an update on Bethesda's blog.

knee

What arrows dream of.

Original story: The official Prima interactive Skyrim map app has launched for iPhone and iPad.

It's prim and proper name is "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Official World Interactive Map", and it's made by Radom House Digital.

The app reveals every primary location, secondary location, point of interest, world encounter, vendor, trainer, skill book and unique item across the realm.

A free version charts all nine major Hold cities, and measures 102MB.

Unlocking other locations involves buying one or more of the $0.99 in-app add-ons. There are 15 of them, and they can be bundled together for $9.99.

Add-ons cover everything from marriage prospects to shrines and unusual gems.

The map zooms to 3200 per cent; there's a search function; you can add custom points of interest and you can toggle points of interest.

Not really sure about this...useful for having it right next to you I guess. I just have my laptop to hand though and use that for maps like that, but it's a nice idea I guess.

I like that it's not even available on the UK and EU stores.

Simply create a US iTunes account (Google it).
Pro tip: Use a fake New Hampshire address as that state has 0% sales tax which is usually added AFTER the $0.99 or whatever price of the app.
You need to buy US iTunes gift cards though if you want to buy anything as European credit cards don't work with US iTunes accounts.
Either ask a mate who goes to the US to pick some cards up or buy them on the internet (Google is your friend again).
All you need is the code on the cards so there is no need for these cards to be shipped physically).

The knee thing is getting old now, unless you're a Skyrim nerd, in which case I'm sure it's still hilarious.

"Update: Unfortunately, this app is only available to people in the US."

    Translation:
"We didn't check the facts before hurriedly publishing this story."

So, what part of "only available to people in the US" applies to EUROgamer?

I've found it perfectly fine using the Elder Scrolls wiki on my iPad for the last four months thankyou Prima!

Likewise using wiki on iPad and get everything for no costs!

This does strike me as a bit pointless - half the fun of this game is randomly stumbling across stuff that you weren't even looking for, but if you're the type who has to find everything then won't you just use the internet like everyone else instead of paying a tenner so you can multitouch your way around a tiny map?

I'm not sure I'd personally be able to justify buying an app like this, but stuff like this and the iOS Arkham City map are great innovations for OCD types.

If you have an iPad then the chances are you have Google. There is a wealth of guides and Wikis which probably have more information than this.

But it's OFFICIAL. Doesn't that count for anything? ;)

A bit late and a bit silly... (After all Wiki Skyrim has the same thing for free.)

Of course I can't talk since I picked up the phone book sized Strategy guide at launch.
