Mass Effect 3 DLC bundled with Razer peripherals

Keyboard, headset, controller include multiplayer extras.

Not content with bundling Mass Effect 3 DLC with toys and books, developer BioWare has announced you'll also be able to pick up extra content for its forthcoming space RPG with a range of Razer peripherals.

Razer's new Mass Effect 3 line includes the following items:

  • Razer Imperator gaming mouse ($79.99)
  • Razer Vespula dual-sided gaming mouse mat ($34.99)
  • Razer BlackWidow Ultimate gaming keyboard ($139.99)
  • Razer Onza Tournament Edition Xbox 360 controller ($59.99)
  • Razer Chimaera Xbox 360 gaming headset ($209.99)
  • iPhone 4/4S protection case ($34.99)
  • N7 messenger bag ($79.99)

Pre-order any of the above and you'll pick up some in-game multiplayer content for the impending sequel, detailed on Razer's site as follows:

"The Razer Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition peripherals and gear come with a redeemable code to unlock bonus item packs for Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, including the deadly Collector Assault Rifle to give you a leg up on the Reaper invasion. If you have already unlocked the Collector Assault Rifle, this code will strengthen the weapon further."

Mass Effect 3 is due on shelves for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from 9th March.

    Holy shit.

Half of it's probably on the disc already as well.
  • Alivada #6 3 months ago

Shit like this is why I'm going to be renting Mass Effect 3.
  • FuzzyDuck #7 3 months ago

    This is out of control.

Well played Bioware, no sale from me now!
  • KanePaws #8 3 months ago

Sweet! Stuff like this allows me to have a game beaten as quickly as possible and then get back to what's really fun - buying expensive luxury items from the game company! :D

Buy the game! Buy the game's prerelease trinkets! Now buy the in-game content! Buy some branded merchandise and buy more in-game content!

On this roller-coaster of shopping the only way to win is to not ride. Consider your purchases well, for we, collectively, hold the power to change gaming forever.

    N7 messenger bag ($79.99)

I can walk into work in Style with this bag, just like Dirk Shepard would if he worked at my place.
Everyone would think i was Da Man as i took my cheese and onion butties from my N7 bag.

Kiss My Arse you money grabbing pricks

Goodness, more DLC for buying things. How unexpected.
  • The-Jack-Burton #14 3 months ago

It's no longer a game, it's a gift shop at Disneyworld.

And somehow, I think that is exactly what EA and Bioware are striving for.
  • AVisualEpiphany #15 3 months ago

    Fuck.
    This.

    ...DEFINITE no-buy now

And all you fuckers that buy ME3 are the reason this industry is fisting us with this DLC bullshit.

This should all be unlockable extras in-game as it would have been a few years ago. There is absolutely NO excuse for it not to be with the extra space available on modern formats etc (Even having it as FREE DLC would be an option)
  • maxinquaye #16 3 months ago

$35 for a "gaming" mouse mat?

    I hope that's in 22nd century dollars.
  • Kami #17 3 months ago

    What's the punchline?

No, seriously, because they can't be serious about this... what's the punchline?
  • The-Jack-Burton #18 3 months ago

    @Kami

You're the punchline, we all are
  • Shikasama #19 3 months ago

But you don't want to waste resources on pad support.

    Right.
  • Ducanoff #20 3 months ago

    Hahaha oh wow!
I wonder how far they can go with this DLC stuff.
  • The-Jack-Burton #21 3 months ago

    @Shikasama

Actually, that is why I am so pissed. Fuckers lie to your face without even giving the courtesy of letting you forget that they had just lied to your face.

I NEED a gamepad in order to play

  • Srift #24 3 months ago

You know I bet eventually developers and publishers will release games in segments...so say 40 bucks for an 8 hour game and then tack on the rest as DLC down the road..
  • Arsecake_Baker #25 3 months ago

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....Gasp!....Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Over rated, over hyped and over here!

Most of the key people already moved on from Bioware if this keeps up the only ones left to parade around will be the two doctors.
Then again that was probably EAs intention in the first .
I believe after ME3 hits the shelf there will be some huge changes to Bioware.
If people thought their shit now I think then their next releases will probably leave them very bitter indeed.
  • ProtoformX #27 3 months ago

I think this "I'm not buying Mass Effect 3 at all because of the DLC" is cutting off your nose to spite your face. I will definitely be buying Mass Effect 3 on launch day because I support the series and I think it's delivered one of the best gaming experiences of this generation. And I will be buying full-on universe-expanding DLC (e.g. Lair of The Shadow Broker) if any of it appears because it will add extra experiences to the game. However, I won't be buying anything like the stuff here because, like the majority here, I don't agre with this method.
It's not as if BioWare are slicing out great big chunks of the game. You can stil go out and buy Mass Effect 3 and enjoy the single player and multiplayer whilst at the same time giving 2 fingers to all of this crap. One of the folks from the team has a post on Penny Arcade that states you can still get the best posible ending in the game just by playing through the single player, totally igorning the multiplayer, iPhone app and iPad game if you so wish.
Buy the game to show support for this kind of thing (Massive games with great characters and a whole in-game galaxy) then just ignore everything else. You can bet people will be observing how well everything sells and if they see that the game itself has brilliant sales but all the action figures, books, etc. have crap sales then it'll send them a message to keep making this kind of game, but maybe try a different approach than this.
Ultimately if you really want to put a stop to all of this rubbish, go and buy shares in EA/BioWare.

Am I the only one that actually quite likes the man bag? (ridiculous price aside...) ;)
  • StooMonster #30 3 months ago

@Protoform The previous two ME were pre-order titles for me, on PC, and I recommended and gifted copies to several friends. Previously a big fan of this series, but not pre-ordering this time.

Buy on launch day, you say, I don't think so.

There's so much DLC and segmented content crap going on that the only sensible approach is to wait for a GotY Edition with it all included. It will probably be on sale in time for Xmas, for a double-dip by EA, so what does waiting a few months matter? I've still got plenty of other stuff to play.

But to be honest, EA's approach to ME3 might have put me off all together. Just because I've played the other two doesn't mean I must play the third one.

    'Not content with bundling'

Seriously, how the fuck does Eurogamer continue to let Fred Dutton use the most over the top emotive reporting?

I've yet to see Fred even attempt to take a balanced tone with Bioware.

Also, have any of you moaning fuckwits noticed that this DLC is the SAME DLC that is available for the other merchandise purchases. This isn't a whole suite of EXTRA DLC, its the same DLC available through multiple channels.

But hey, don't let the bitching stop. Lets believe that EA is fisting you, using over the top emotive language over downloadable impulse purchases for a video game.

I agree with ProtoformX. If you like the game wait a couple of weeks for the price to drop then buy it without all the DLC crud.

Sadly, EA have realised that they have an electronic license to print money. We need some kind of witty name for this...like they had for Freemium.

Supremium? Gougeium? Or just bloody greedy. Selling buffs to multiplayer games is a smart move for the seller...as a player I really, really don't like it.

    @Shikasama

I really can't see your point. How is their desire not to put time into developing pad support for the PC in ANY way linked to the entirely separate organisation Razor developing themed peripherals?

Do you understand that Razor hasn't anything to do with Bioware/EA? Maybe you thought that was a PC gamepad. Its not, its an xbox gamepad.

Its like saying 'they dont want to waste resources on pad support' when you see that sony has game pad support for uncharted 3. Theres literally no connection.

As for Jack Burton, seriously, get a grip. Your hysterical moaning is beginning to get ludicrously over the top now, matched only by Inmediasress's bitterness that Bioware is making an RPG that every one can enjoy now, instead of games just for him.

What product do I need to buy to get the DLC that stops Shepard running like he's shit his pants?
  • vert1go #35 3 months ago

I joked about this just last night. Oh how we laughed at such an absurd money grabbing idea...
    Now, not so funny.
  • Velios #36 3 months ago

what a massive bunch of tat
  • Syrette #37 3 months ago

Why are some of you blaming Bioware, and not EA?

I find that utterly, utterly bemusing. You guys aren't stupid.
  • Wyrm #38 3 months ago

I won't boycott the game, but I have no interest in peripheral crap and won't be getting any of that or buying any DLC.
  • LittleRiver #39 3 months ago

I had two Razer Onza Tournament pads at release both were faulty. Wouldn't touch Razer stuff again personally.
  • BritishBlue1 #40 3 months ago

    *Shrugs*

Seems like a ridiculous amount of overpriced tat but I'm not outraged by it, we live in a capitalist society afterall. Ultimately I will choose not to buy it. It's not like Bioware are forcing us to buy such rubbish.
  • ubergine #41 3 months ago

I think it just illustrates how non-essential most DLC has become. I can't comprehend people paying extra money for "appearance" DLC or weapons that do very little differently.

The only uproar should occur the day they make any of this crap a necessity, or even desirable. Multiplayer bonuses for leaderboard games like Battlefield 3 is off-putting, but all that content tends to be made available after a short time anyway (or free in B3's case.)

If anything, I'm more dirty about Arrival. Apart from the content being shit, it was seemingly an essential part of the story heading into part 3. If anything, it should have been the final, free, Cerberus Network content.
  • O2L #42 3 months ago

fuck this, i was going to get the game on pc like the other two. but im going to borrow or buy it second hand now if at all. its just got out of hand
  • cw- #43 3 months ago

@ProtoformX Big fat plus one for you sir!

Buy the game, but stop buying all this shit and eventually it'll stop.

However, it will never stop, because there is enough people out there who want it/ buy it..
    =/
  • johnboyadvance #44 3 months ago

Are these actually exclusive or early unlock?

If its Early Unlock then all is well.

Exclusive and it gets really fucking stupid.

Played the multiplayer demo today, really fun I found.
  • CaptainKid #45 3 months ago

And the pre-order Bioware craze has begun again.
Funny thing is.. when you pirate the game you get ALL content.
  • Ternon #46 3 months ago

Bioware, I'm still waiting for my Mass Effect cereals and action figures in them as a prize...don't disappoint me.

And of course this must unlock some new content somewhere...

I had a horrible dream last night, a nightmare some may say, that I purchased the bag and a hoodie :o
  • saku_luk #48 3 months ago

But are you really buying this bag? or just the license to use it? :)
  • Wot_the_Melon #49 3 months ago

@KanePaws Also, you can buy the Complete* Collector's edition of the game for only 40% extra!

*Contains not quite as much content as the regular edition of, for example, The Witcher games. However, it is the most complete edition of the game there is! It just doesn't include DLC1, DLC2, Razer DLC, DLC3, Random figurines DLC, extra stuff for extra price DLC, DLC4...
Also, if you're a non-US PC gamer you'll have to buy all of these DLC's at full price because we don't extend any discounts to you. Steam would do that, so we can't, you see?
  • werewolf_poo #50 3 months ago

Who buys DLC for multiplayer? I mean, I understand the map pack thing, But golden lancers and different guns and stuff. Utter pish
