The Witcher 2 Xbox 360 release date announced
CD Projekt details Enhanced Edition, Dark Edition.
The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition launches worldwide for Xbox 360 on 17th April, developer CD Projekt has announced.
The developer has added a raft of new features and insists it's the "most polished and definitive version of the game".
Here's a summary of what you can expect from the console release:
- New CGI intro sequence
- 33 minutes of new cinematics
- Four additional hours of gameplay
- Two new adventures
- New characters
- New locations
- Revamped intelligent camera system
- New target locking system
- Improved Character Panel
- New panels navigation bar
- More responsive control system
The game, priced at £44.99, comes on two discs and also includes a quest handbook, official soundtrack and world map.
If all that's not enough, CD Projekt is also offering a deluxe Dark Edition for £59.99. That comes in a handsome special edition box and adds an art book, three stickers, a medallion and a 'making of' DVD.
A PC version of the Enhanced Edition also launches on 17th April, while all those who already own the game get all the new additional content via a free update on the same day.
Both editions are available for pre-order now, with various different retailers offering additional extras, including T-shirts, avatars, keyrings and a comic book.
On top of all that, the original PC version is now on sale at 15 per cent off via GOG. Pick it up at the discounted price and you can grab the new content via the aforementioned update in April.

I'm tempted to buy the game again just to support them further.

I am itching to buy Dark Edition of x360 version despite not owning x360 and despite already owning both Collector edition and GOG edition of PC version. It just looks so freaking good.

At the eg expo they said they're not doing a ps3 version

its not needed tbh. While a knowledge of the first game will give you a deeper understanding of the characters, this is very much a new story rather than a continuation of the first game.

Well done those devs. Shame about all that lawsuit malarkey but nice to see them still supporting PC users properly. \o/

I scoured the web after reading your comment, can't find anything confirming that. I'll wait for official word until believing it. If you can pass on a link that'd be great.

The developers have said that they are focusing on finishing up the 360 version but would love to do a PS3 version in the future but are currently focusing on only a 360 version since they are a VERY small dev team.
There is hope for a PS3 version, and even more hope if the game does well on the 360. It looks great.

Get all the achievements in the 360 version then hopefully when they make the PS3 version get all the trophies in that.
If it can happen to Mass Effect 2, it can happen to The Witcher 2

Buy both. Support the dev team, they have said that there is no need for another console generation because of the graphics of PS3 exclusives.
If I had money to burn, I would do that.
However, with a mortgage, bills, a family consisting of my Wife and 2 kids and my Mother in our house, I have to balance my pleasures.
I mostly use my 360s for the exclusives and for any multiplats that are drastically better on it. I don't use my old one that much, having got a brand new one with Kinect

I recall that the first Witcher, which was announced for the 360, hasn't even been released yet.
Isn't my appreciation for this Universe gonna suffer as a result?
I did really want to play the first Witcher.

They stated very clearly at their EG Expo presentation that they are not working on a PS3 version (something to do with the PS3 being an unfamiliar system to them, plus limited resources, IIRC - I think I have the whole thing recorded somewhere). They didn't totally rule out a PS3 version in future, but they did make clear that they had no current intention to release on that platform.

They did say some time ago that they weren't doing a PS3 version at that time, I think it was around the time they confirmed it was coming to 360. The fact they haven't said they ARE doing a PS3 version would probably mean that still stands, considering the last thing they said was that they weren't working on one.

Sell the Kinect and buy even more 360 exclusives
I don't know man - I have trouble getting rid of stuff for some reason, silly sentimentality or something I guess. Plus, I'm planning to get some more games for Kinect as well, including the Sesame street one, and the horror game (forgot its name).
However, I do buy the exclusives that matter (to me). In fact, one of the few I can think of that I haven't bought for my 360 is Alan Wake, which I'm planning to get at some point this year, if they release it with the DLC included (some reviews may have trashed it, but from what I have seen, I thought the game looked ace).

Yes it was last year (not that it means anything, we're still in January). It's also the most up-to-date answer they have given on the subject.
