Chrono Trigger PSN release date
Square Enix SNES so.
Seminal SNES RPG Chrono Trigger is heading to PSN - next week!
A post on the US PlayStation blog outed the release date as Tuesday, 4th October. There's no corresponding post on the European blog - the game could arrive here on Wednesday, 5th October.
A subsequent post by Square Enix product manager Charles McCarter teased that Chrono Cross, sequel to Chrono Trigger, may also be on its way.
"Would rather be playing Chrono Cross. Yea [sic] I went there," posted blog member kassatsu.
"Well, you might not have to wait that much longer..." replied McCarter.
A PS3/PSP/PSN release for Chrono Trigger was hinted at earlier this year via America's ratings board ESRB.
Chrono Trigger was released on the SNES a million years ago, in 1995, and later ported to PlayStation 1. Presumably the latter version will be the one on offer.
There's no word on a price.

Definitely, games appearing in the US are really no indication of a Euro release at all. I'm still waiting for Wild Arms nearly three years after the US release, and some nine months since they admitted they were working on bringing it to the Euro store. I'd be inclined to remove the suggested Euro release date unless someone from Sony comes along to confirm it.

Have to admit I'm also one of those who never played this (I joined the PS1 party a little late so missed quite a few of the great earlier titles) so will have to do something about it now.

Between the SNES version and the PS1 version it's harder to tell, though. The PS1 version have some extra cutscenes and stuff, but at the same time does it suffer from loading times. While the SNES version (and DS version) have no loading times to speak of.

Given that a bunch of people have already said they never played it within an hour or so of the story being posted, I'm not exactly sure why you think its age is relevant. I mean, yeah, it's not a HUGE spoiler, but there are clearly still people who don't know the story. It's not exactly shared cultural knowledge like the ending of Soylent Green or something.

I ripped my US copy to ISO and played it on my PSP last year - the load-time/pause was still there.
I also recommend the DS version.
EDIT: Perfectly legal in my country btw.

@Mazrim_Taim
The issue with the US/EU divide is that Sony doesn't appear to be willing to do whatever it is that is necessary to bring the Euro store up to the standards of the US one. I'm sure there are many regional licensing issues and other costs, but those shouldn't be the problem of the end user. We shouldn't need to set up a second account just to get the same service as US gamers.
Either way, the suggestion in this article that the game might show up on the Euro PSN is hopelessly optimistic at best, given the history of PSN versus Europe.
