inFamous dev making new PS3 game
Is it inFamous 3?
inFamous developer Sucker Punch is advertising for staff to work on a new PlayStation 3 game.
As outlined on the Sucker Punch Productions website, the developer is looking for an art director, a senior producer, a lead sound designer and a senior game designer for its next game.
The senior producer job listing on Gamasutra only mentions the PlayStation 3 under "platforms".
So, what is Sucker Punch up to?
Is it inFamous 3?
Last year Sucker Punch told Eurogamer it would give "serious thought" to a request from Sony to create a third game in the superhero series.
"We'll see where we want to go next," Sucker Punch co-founder Bruce Oberg said.
"That could be with Sony. We have a great relationship with them. We love the PlayStation platform. I'm not lying when I tell you it's a really killer technological platform for us to work on.
"The support and marketing, and also their approach to us, to let us make the game we want to make, is really incredible. Our relationship with Sony has been just incredible, all through the Sly series and all through inFamous."
Independent studio Sucker Punch does not own the inFamous intellectual property – an arrangement it described as a "small price to pay" for the "freedom to make the game we want to make".
Or could Sucker Punch be hiring for a brand new IP?

A sequel? I say bring it!
Given sucker punch being so close with Sony and all, maybe infamous 3 will be a PS4 launch title? They only said "playstation", not PS3...

In the good ending the boat is struck by lightning before Cole is buried at sea, possible that the lightning strike brings him back to life as it were while in the evil ending he's still alive and running around America activating conduits, possible to use that ending as a launchpad and have the NSA complete the RFI and remove Cole's beastly powers without killing him
Could be inFamous 3, could be a new IP, could be a new Sly game as the statement specifically mentions that series. Whatever it is in the midst of all these closures and layoffs I'm glad this studio still has a future as the improvements between inFamous and its sequel are nothing short of astonishing and losing this studio wouldn't just be a blow for PS3 fans but the industry as a whole.

No wonder that Sly 4 is outsourced.

If there is a new Infamous i would like them to continue from there and not from the good ending.

Not only does a lightning bolt strike where Cole was, but it's visibly shaped like a question mark.
That said, I'd rather they took a break from inFamous. My only real complaint with the second game was that it wasn't much of a leap from the original. It'd be great to see them work on some new titles and then come back to inFamous in a few years. It'd be a great way to launch the PS4.

If there is an Infamous 3 (I expect there will be) I would like to see a slightly more flowing design structure, a bit more effort put into the feel of the gameworld (i.e. the NPCs look and feel very artificial and robotic when compared to RDR or AC:B). I also hope they use Euphoria or Havok to build in a proper physics engine; particularly on the characters.
