Super Meat Boy Ultra Edition for the UK

Boxed PC version due this year.

PC game Super Meat Boy Ultra Edition will launch in the UK as a boxed title between July and September this year.

Brighton publisher Lace Mamba Global is doing the honours.

"Super Meat Boy is an absolute crazy phenomenon on the internet," boss Jason Codd said.

"The game has sold far more than 400,000 copies already online, and there is a special boxed edition available in the US, so we expect there to be a huge demand for a similar retail edition in the territories we're serving."

The US Ultra Edition contains a 40-page booklet including never-before-seen art, behind-the-scenes info and an extended version of Team Meat's comics; the soundtrack and additional audio samples; and a mini-poster.

The rock hard retro platformer launched late last year on PC and Xbox Live Arcade. Eurogamer's Super Meat Boy review jumped onto a 9/10.

    I don't like my 360's D-Pad... and I don't like purchasing games of Wiiware - if wii is lost or broken, your downloads are lost forever :( - So I was waiting for a PS3 version which seems like it's never happening... I guess a special edition PC boxed version will work!

    The hype will probably ruin it, bet it's no where near as hard as everyone is making it out to be ;)

    I thought that and then I played it and wondered what everyone was going on about, "it's not hard!" I thought!

    Then it kicked in. Some later levels took me over 50 attempts before getting to the borderline impossible final level!! It remains unfinished.

    @reelbigkris - The PS3 version is a definite no because Sony didn’t express interest in the game, you'll have to blame Sony for that one! Silly Sony! As for the D-Pad hehe it's analogue stick all the way with this baby, works like a charm! :)

    Oh and trust me it really is as hard as everyone makes out lol I'm just trying to complete all the dark world levels... Jesus! Fun though!!!

    Special package is nice, but I ended up with a PC copy from that whole potato saga. And that was on top of the Xbox version I already had.

    @reelbigkris

    It works with the analogue stick actually, surprisingly well in fact. Even with the stick travel distance, Meat Boy still does precisely what you want him to do. Leaves quite a lot of other games feeling slow and unresponsive. You're right to be wary of WiiWare though. I lost all my games when my Wii was stolen, so I've given up on Nintendo's digital efforts until they figure out how it ought to work. The Xbox version is a good one, although PC will probably see more DLC if that's you're thing.

    If you do find the game to be that simple they saw fit to include a much harder version of every level, and some rather taxing DLC levels. Good luck with those.

    ...So we can expect it around March 2012 then.

    I play it with my dualshock3, emulating a 360 controller through MotionInJoy. SO much nicer!

    Got it for the 360. 10 out of 10. What a game.

    I don't need this, but I might buy it anyway.

    @reelbigkris

    Remember what you thought about it maybe not being so hard when you're trying to unlock the Kid.

    @reelbigkris This game ones one of the rare examples of games that deserve it's hype. Fun, runs beautifully, great controls (i use a ds3 on PC with motioninjoy without using the 360 emulator) it's incredibly intuitive, and the difficulty/longevity of this game is insane, considering i payed like 6 euro for it i feel like a thief :p they deserve more money :D
