Crysis 2 360 demo downloaded 1.7m times

New PC, Xbox 360 demo out today.

The Crysis 2 Xbox 360 demo released last month was downloaded an impressive 1.7 million times, EA has announced.

Developer Crytek has used feedback to improve the final version of the game.

Today, a new demo launches on PC and Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version is due out soon.

You can grab the new demo from the official Crysis 2 website.

Today's demo is multiplayer focused, and features two maps: Skyline and Pier 17. Two modes, Team Instant Action and Crash Site, are included.

The final game includes six gameplay modes set across 12 maps. Players progress through 50 levels, earning upgrades for weapons and the Nanosuit.

Really not interested in multiplayer Crysis. No download for me... Shame really, they missed a golden opportunity with those people, who were underwhelmed with the storyline and pacing in the first one. Having second thoughts about buying numero 2 without having at least a sneak peek at the singleplayer...

Eye candy ain't everything Crytek. id proved that one aeons ago.

Still no SP demo...criminal it is
  • dr_zoidthrob #3 1 year ago

    Meh... MP only - again.

I wonder how many times it was deleted?
  • matrim83 #4 1 year ago

PC demo is worthless. DX9 only, not detailed graphical options, uses gamespy etc etc.Its basically the 360 demo with some slight changes.

    Why even bother Crytek?
  • Caimbeul #5 1 year ago

I saw this and thought cool! a Crysis 2 demo. Then i saw it was multiplayer and went "Oh..."

    :-(

If this new demo is as good as the first one on the 360 I may have to buy, the graphics are nowhere near as good as they were making out but it is the closest us 360 gamers can get to a "killzone feel" game on the 360.

Dunno why all the hate, I really like the gameplay....
  • Porcupine_I #7 1 year ago

what a great success considering nobody has downloaded the PS3 demo AT ALL!
  • SBfistfun #8 1 year ago

First demo was awful and sent this from a maybe to a no no for me.

I'll give this one a go and see how much they've improved it...

Would anyone choose this game over battlefield 3 ? Honest answers please(the first demo left a really bad impression on me)
  • AdamAsunder #11 1 year ago

Being as there's a fair few months between the release of Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 why would anyone have to choose between them?

  • evild_edd #12 1 year ago

Missed the first 360 demo so I'm in the minority of those happy they've released another MP demo.....
  • spekkeh #13 1 year ago

Oh, demo, meh, not interested in multplayer, especially after how incredibly excited the folks at Gamescom looked while playing.

God that was an awful piece of advertising. Want to be a joyless brainless zombie with multiple chins, play Crysis 2!
  • kirankara #14 1 year ago

after first demo, i wouldnt choose it over a lobotomy customfirmware lol. it was woeful, but had some potential, so will try again, and id bad, will abandon till 20 quid or less to play the sp.

kz3 is infinitely superior to this in mp based on demo, as is bc2, as is black ops(when it worked for me), but i like the potential tactical aspects to it with the suit . Also think cod style run and gunners ruined demo, as the controls aent responsive enough to suit that style of play, and removed tactical elements from game, but mian fault was just the lag and crap responsiveness of coontrollers
  • CaptainQuint #15 1 year ago

I'm in work. Any word on whether there's a visible difference in the engine build of this one compared to the last demo?
  • kirankara #16 1 year ago

will let u know captain when its downloaded
  • customfirmware #17 1 year ago

@kiran I'm getting neg for pointing out that the first demo was piss awful. With the amount of hype behind it I was expecting more. I'm not even gonna mention killzone as it's in a different league of it's own, but I was expecting more from this. hopefully the single player element is better than the mp,saw a gameplay clip and it does look better than the mp which was a pile of shit.agree or disagree but that's my opinion from playing it.

    Downloaded, "Creating Account................................. ................................ ................................... .............................................. ..................................... (15 minutes later) ..................................................................................................."

    Not impressed so far! :-P
  • rottingyoda #19 1 year ago

I enjoyed the demo the first time around but not enough to download it again. Melee is beyond OP. Still enjoyed it more than COD BLOPS which is what they're going for I imagine.

I'll buy it for PC to enjoy the improved visuals in SP but unless there's a more tactically challenging element added to the MP then as soon as battlefield 3 drops it will be shelved.
  • berryl227 #20 1 year ago

Still no ps3 demo then? Can anyone confirm if the ps3 version is fundamentally borked? Surely this can be the only reason why it's barely been seen.

I have a really bad feeling about it

Couldn't they offer a title update for all those who downloaded the 360 demo the first time round and still have it on their 360?

Ppp get negged for dumbest shit on this site lol
I can understand ppl negging trolls just looking to stir up shit, but when it's someone having an opinion , it's ridiculous .

Anyway, for what it's worth I agree with u, demo was awful, but hard to really judge based on what I was playing on due to lag( would load entire clips in Ppl as they stood there and killed me with one shot ; in kill cam this wasn't actually the case he'd shot me before I'd even seen him)

So will try again before condeming it totally , othewise
Back to kz3 and bc2 for my kicks
  • Monkey_Puncher #23 1 year ago

Only interested in single player :/
  • coojam #24 1 year ago

I think the point of the demo is they fixed the stuff in the old demo, such as the overpowered melee and lag issues.
  • Quixz #25 1 year ago

Just got my PC demo but the game wont start if the antivirus is on :@

And it's been trying to create my account for about 10 mins now!
  • razzastuta #26 1 year ago

I downloaded the MP Crysis demo the first time. I thought it was OK but seriously underwhelming for a demo...didn't do enough to grab me.
  • pmamba45 #27 1 year ago

C2's essence is the single player. I would first want to be baptized in the world and mechanics before a "COD" type Crysis MP as thats where Crysis is original.

An MP demo saga is alteria from appreciating the evolve of Crysis for fans.

Brain hurts... can't focus... wha...? urk...
  • Gearskin #29 1 year ago

It's obvious why MP demos take precedent these days - the competition.

Crysis 2 having a great campaign mode is a given. The first one was great, Warhead was great. The various trailers for Crysis 2 and the single player footage we've seen... great.

Anyone remember the E3 demo from that last? That was epic!

But the multiplayer is where all shooters have legs, and there's got to be a hook that guarantees EA a piece of the market that's currently dominated by the likes of COD.

I'm playing this new demo right now and, it might just be me, but it does feel more responsive than the last one. The visuals are still a bit flickery on 360, with textures popping in and out, but I do like how this multiplayer game feels to play. It's quite free wheeling.

This would be great if the mycrysis account creation was working!!!!!!!! Was going to get PC version now think I may just pass all together.

Since when was the number of times a demo was downloaded news? It's a demo, it's free, it has little relation to weather people will buy it or not.

The amount of non-news on games site amazes me. I guess people we read and argue over any old crap.
  • Er-El #32 1 year ago

First thing I see when I start the PC demo: "Press start to continue"#
    ...
Sorry my keyboard doesn't have a 'start' key!

Where have you been. Such things have been stated many times by developers as a barometer of interest in a game.

I want to like this game, but it's still fundamentally flawed , there's still too much lag, clunky controls , and hit detection is a joke. I start to enjoy it but then I'll die having shot a guy twenty times. It's not better looking than kz3 IMO either, I'm sure there's some natty effects in there, but artistically it's kinda bland.
I've spent few hrs with it, which is more than I managed on last Demo, but still not enough to warrant a purchase so far.

Been playing this for a few hours and i have to say this puts Killzone 3 online to shame!

Far more playable and a bit more tactical! The sound is incredible as well through my setup.
  • kirankara #38 1 year ago

Not sure I agree there mate, sure it's got tactical elements , but if everyone plays like it's cod, ie camp or run and gun, makes no bloody difference. Liking it more than I did, but still the controls are not not responsive, and hit detection bit borked, plus u can hit a fuckin gnat with ur assault rifle from 300 yards , its a joke

How much of Killzone 3 have you played online? They have turned that game into Cod on speed! K2 was good online K3 has been turned into a twitchfest...sure C2 is similar but it's no where near as bad.
  • Machiavellian #40 1 year ago

All time clasic. EG readers bitching and the game will sell big. We ALL know that it will. Face it. You dont like its MP? Then wait for SP demo. If not, too bad. Why all the bitching around here? Some of us actually loved the MP. yeah was buggy at first but was great when the lag was gone.

My take on a multiplayer demo like this is that the devs get a chance to see how thing work out with the community, get feed back and make adjustments where needed. I highly doubt I will judge the MP on this demo since it doesn't have anything besides basic MP. Instead of bitching and calling the MP crap, you should be putting your feedback to Crytek so they have a chance on improving the experience.

I am not sure I agree with your outlook. Yes there will always be people who play a tactical game like its run and gun but who cares. People who get there head around the things that separate the game from COD or your basic shooter gain the advantage and reap the benifit and fun. I care less how someone else plays a game, I only care how I play it.
  • Eraysor #41 1 year ago

Very average from what I played on PC. The SP beta is a much better demo!
  • DRUNK3N-_-DRAGON #42 1 year ago

What are you complaining about? you get the demo for nothing!

I agree and that's way I've been playing it, the problem is the controls aren't responsive enough for twitchy one on ones, or it's lag, not sure which, maybe both. I could tell when lag was not evident as much , as my kill death ration tripled. hit detection isn't great either. . Possibly both.almost everytime I end up in close quartercombat I end up thinking how the funk did I die, and the kill cam baffles me further, as I watch them shooting thin air.
