Reach campaign matchmaking next week

Level cap may be lifted in a "month or two".

Bungie has said that the Campaign Matchmaking playlist for Halo: Reach is scheduled to go live on "approximately 10/19" (19th October in old money) pending final testing and review.

What's more, the current level cap is expected to be lifted "in the next month or two, give or take" via some "cool communal efforts", which the developer will detail on Bungie.net in the very near future.

Campaign Matchmaking will be accompanied by "quite a few other tweaks and improvements to existing playlists" according to Bungie's Brian "Sketch" Jarrard.

"The final changes are subject to change and pending final test review but it's our hope to roll out a dedicated Infection and Snipers playlist amidst a slew of other changes," he wrote in the studio's weekly update.

And if you've already hit the level cap, credits earned in the meantime will still be counted so they can go toward your next rank. "So, once the level cap is lifted, some players will shoot off into other ranks and get access to new stuff," player investment designer Luke Smith explained.

Anything else going on in the world of Bungie? "I do have it on good authority that something is stirring in the darkness, something dealing not with our future but with something much more familiar," Jarrard wrote.

"Dare I say that next weeks' forecast currently shows the fog clearing and the information you've been clamoring for is poised to burn through like the midday sun." Er, boom?

Over on Bnet I'm constantly amused by the amount of crying going on over the current level cap. I hope the month or so wait encourages the recent CoD fraternity to bugger of back to MW2, where they happily fill bars all day long till their hearts' content. Halo isn't about filling bars, thankfully.

Well thank god for that Bungie/Microsoft. F you and your 'i dont want people to play t6he last level without them playing all the others' if someone wants to ruin their story, let them! im only playing the story again for the challenges. And on a side note, i wasnt exactly enthralled by the story anyway, so who cares if you spoil it?

A month or two? It'll be the week Black Ops launches. Shame really as I actually like ranking up and getting new things to buy.

level cap? as in people have played it so much they've topped out? already?

    o_O

@roquey - there are plenty of people who *enjoy* playing through things at *their* own pace and don't want anyone else to tell them how things end, regardless of what some other internet person thinks. It was a good idea imo.

I ran though the story quite quickly, and only found out afterwards about the achievements etc.
I was disappointed that I couldn't hop on with a stranger and play through it again.
Also nice to see some more unlockable stuff coming!

Is there a trick to that assassinate an elite to save yourself from a deadly achievement, I've assassinated that bastard 7 times now (even uploaded a movie showing one of the attempts, to prove I'm not going mad) and still haven't unlocked it. Waaaaaah, I'm a gamer point whore and I want my 25 points!!!

@edhe if you wanted to play through at your pace then dont start at the later levels. simple really the point im making is its up to the player if they want to start at the end.

    @telboy007

Just keep trying to do it on the last level, right at the huge cliff, with the pillar of autoum in the background. I had to do it like 10 times before the achievement poppep up, i was going crazy too, just keep trying. Jumping straight onto the guy and press melee did the trick for me eventually
