JAW's Oddworld remake a PSN exclusive

Stranger's Wrath supports PS Move.

Just Add Water's Oddworld game is a downloadable PlayStation Network-exclusive "enhanced remake" of 2005's Stranger's Wrath.

Due out next Easter, it enhances the original Xbox game with 720p visuals, more detailed characters, normal mapping and self-shadowing, re-mastered dialogue, support for PlayStation Move and additional bonus material yet to be revealed.

The game marks the series' first appearance on a PlayStation console since 1998's Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus.

"Since word got out that we've been working with Oddworld Inhabitants there have been many rumours circulating about what we're working on," said JAW managing director Stewart Gilray.

"Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is the first project in what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship. Having the chance to update this great title and release it on PS3 is just a brilliant opportunity, not least for us, but for the fans too."

JAW's worked closely with Oddworld founders Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna, a move the developer says will "ensure the remake is faithful to the original moolah-chasing epic".

Oh, and it managed an impressive 7/10 in Eurogamer's review.

    This is truly great news. It's one of those games I really wanted to play, but never could because I didn't have the first xbox. I've heard only good things about this.

    Remeber the videos released before the ps2 came out? It was about abe and he was on a blimp or baloon and it looked amazing. Did that ever get made? Or have I just dreamt the entire thing?

    I would of preferred a PC version TBH but Mrs bad09's PS3 will come handy for more than watching movies I guess.

    Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee were supposed to be released for the PC on Steam, weren't they? What happened to that plan?

    Awesome news, this game is good enough to buy a PS3 for (if you hadn't already).

    Shame it's not coming to 360, guess they are still upset over the fact it wasn't made compatible with the 360 for such a long time?

    Remastered audio is perhaps the best addition. It was scratchy as hell on the old Xbox.

    Shame this isn't coming to the 360 as well. Seems a bit daft seeing as there's a whole heap of people who upgraded from the original Xbox to 360 who'd like to play this again (what with it not being backwards compatible).

    Superb game, will definitely pick this up, especially as its not 100% essential to buy Sony's waggle remote so I can play it like games should be played

    Fantastic! I was eagerly hoping for this to be added to the supported Xbox games on the 360 but I'll be delighted to get it on PSN!

    My favourite Xbox game.

    The new Oddworld project being revealed as actually being the PSN exclusive remake of Stranger's Wrath solves a lot of questions about what ever happened to the "OddBox" collection.

    I thought we were getting both this and a new game though, but I'll take it either way, as I never played Stranger's Wrath originally.

    I'm actually disappointed it isn't multiplatform as more people should play this awesome game.

    Pretty sweet. I really enjoyed it. Something quite different and it's a lot of fun running and jumping round the world. Love the little creatures on the end of your crossbow.

    Niiiiiice! Best f***ing best bit of news I've heard in a long time. Love Oddworld games (the old PS1 games are still great fun), and I've always wanted to play through this one (never bought an Xbox, tho).

    What the hell? The absolute best game on the Xbox, for so long missing from the backwards compatibility list for the 360, and now someone starts to show some well deserved love for it, they make it a PSN exclusive?! It better just be a timed exclusive that's all I'll say. Put it on XBLA, put it on Steam, put it wherever there are people to play it. ASAP.

    This is amazing news. It's one of my all time favorites. I regret giving my old Xbox away, because I thought the 360 would be able to play it eventually. The perfect blend of first person shooting and third person platforming. The weapon was amazing cuz it uses real life ammo with creatures. The boss fights were awesome. MS dropped it and EA picked it up, so I don't think it will go on the 360, but it should for them to get more people to play it. I wish they added a few more bosses and stuff to do in the town, but I'll take just the audio fix, since the game is flawless. The only people that gave this game a low score are people that don't like games that look kiddy or cuz it has 0 online. Amazing game with a smart story in the end that always relates about how humans destroy things in the world.

    only ever played abes oddessy recently bought abes exxodus from a charity shop for a bargain price of £1 got it home opened it to find just a manual :( oh well its a pretty manual!! will be looking forward strangers wrath :D

    Funny how when it originally came out it was an xbox exclusive and now there re-releasing it and it's a playstation exclusive.

    An instant purchase for me. I only got about half way through this originally and have been feeling guilty about neglecting such excellence the way I did ever since. I promise to give it the love it deserves this time round.

    Its good to have both xb360 and ps3 when they pull crap like this. This is not a good thing BTW, all it does is makes sure that a decent percentage of your fellow games cannot enjoy all of the entertainment out there.

    Bit dissapointed this is not on live arcade as well, it would of sold well on both systems. I loved Munch's Odyssey too got it at launch for the xbox, that on arcade an psn would make my day.

    I unfortunately never got to play this, but would quite happily trade in every 360 game I have if they release this on the 360, or, you know, microsoft make it backward compatible.

    Been waiting for this,loved it the first time around and even had considered buying an xbox to replay it again, such is its quality.Hopefully it will spread to other systems soon so all can enjoy it.

    The game isn't exclusive, there are talks of other platforms, probably Steam.

    I think EG was too quick to call it a PS3 exclusive.It won't be.
    One of the best single player FPS games,far better than anything we've seen this console generation.
