Dead Space 2 multiplayer details emerge
Necromorphs vs. soldiers, apparently.
New information regarding the online multiplayer mode in Dead Space 2 is flying about the internet.
According to Gamernode, it emerged during a GameStop conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Apparently EA revealed you'll be able to control the Necromorphs in deathmatch-style battles against regular "soldiers" - and vice versa. More multiplayer characters will be announced in the future.
Anyone pre-ordering the game will get downloadable add-on Dead Space: Ignition into the bargain. Those pre-ordering from GameStop will also get a free rivet gun.
Dead Space 2 will arrive on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 28th January. Read our recent preview for the full lowdown.

I just hope the don't balls up the SP, I'll be honest though I'm having to suppress doubts on this sequel.

Did Uncharted 2 need it? No,
Was it awesome? Yes.

Marines Vs. Aliens, anyone? Sci-fi survival horror could make for great multiplayer.

Well, if it does turn out pants and doesn’t interfere with the SP game, then it’s a free addition and no harm done
…if it turns out great, then awesome!

Like many tacked on MPs this will get boring quickly and people will go back to their CODs and Battlefield.
Another sad trend in modern day gaming that shooters should have MP.

I was expecting something ambitious, along the lines of the still-unrivaled co-op mode in Project Eden -- four players can play the full campaign, but each one has to follow a specific path and do his co-op part of the job in order for the others to advance.

A Left 4 Dead Versus style mode would be better for this
I heard they were adding multiplayer and I instantly just assumed it would be like L4D versus and moved on, I'm disappointed to hear it won't be like that. Balancing shambling necromorphs vs soldiers will be damn tricky but it could still be fun.

Just focus on an awesome campaign like the last one, surely no-one wants multiplayer on EVERY single new game. It just gets abandoned after about 2-3 weeks.
