Zelda: Skyward Sword in "early 2011"

Eiji Aonuma sets himself a deadline.

Nintendo is aiming to release The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword early next year, according to producer Eiji Aonuma.

"Early 2011 - that is what we're aiming for," Aonuma told Official Nintendo Magazine.

Skyward Sword was officially unveiled for Wii at E3 this time last month but has been known about and in development for quite some time.

Speaking during Nintendo's E3 press conference, Shigeru Miyamoto said he hoped the game "will be remembered as a key turning point in Zelda's history" on account of its revolutionary controls, which take advantage of the Wii MotionPlus accessory to deliver 1:1 sword-swinging and shield-bashing among other innovations.
