This week on Outside Xbox

Lara Croft! Hideo Kojima! Busy week for the OxBox heroes.

Hello Eurogamers! It's March, which means, like a participant in the world's most protracted game of strip poker, we're removing another layer in anticipation of spring. It also means that the flow of new game reveals and releases has picked up again after the barren winter months.

This week we're all about rebooted adventuress Lara Croft, who comes of age not by tearing down a One Direction poster from her bedroom wall, but via the medium of blunt trauma. It's harrowing stuff, but we put on a brave face and made a Show of the Week regardless. We even managed to muster enough good cheer to poke fun at silly accents in games. We're real troopers.

Why are licensed tie-ins with films, TV and books almost universally bad? Oh, you want an answer? That was more of a rhetorical observation. Well, okay, the reason is that licences are expensive to start with and if the licence is good enough, it'll sell enough to make a profit even if it's rubbish. But what if we lived in a world where great licences were matched up Cupid-style with great developers? Welcome to that world.

Finally, it's not often you get to chat to a true games development legend. Hideo Kojima's recent visit to London gave us an opportunity to find out exactly how Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance differs from the original Kojima Productions version, how and why Raiden has evolved since MGS2 and how Rising was initially designed as an open-world game.

If that's all a bit too much hushed reverence for you, be sure to also check out our shamble through Terraria Xbox 360's new split-screen mode and Andy's take on the new Tomb Raider game. Also, keep an eye out on outsidexbox.com next week for more details on Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. See you Outside!
