Galaxies gets European release date

Looks like the Force may finally be with us.

Activision has plucked a release date out of the air for Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, the ambitious massively multiplayer online RPG which has been doing a roaring trade in the US. According to its publisher, Galaxies will be released on October 31st in the UK, Nordic and "Rest of Europe" regions (cheers guys), and in Spain, Italy, France and Germany a week later on November 7th.

Obviously there's lots of backslapping in the press release, but the game's been out since June in the US, so we're not quite sure why. Add to that some less than satisfied reviews and rumours of anarchy and rebellion on the official message boards and you get a less than glorious picture of LucasArts' empirical online game. If we can find somebody with enough spare time to do it justice, we'll set about bringing you a review of the finished UK version as soon as possible.

Given our rough understanding of the game though, we reckon aspiring Jedi or Sith Lords might do better with BioWare's phenomenal Knights of the Old Republic...
