Five Nights at Freddy's dev announces, cancels next game

The creator of Five Nights at Freddy's has announced the newest game in the franchise and simultaneously canned the title.

Writing on Steam, Scott Cawthon revealed he has been working on Five Nights at Freddy's 6 but has now decided to put the series on standby, scrapping the newest game in the process.

"After forcing myself to keep working on it day after day, I realised something - I just don't want to work on this," he said.

Five Nights at Freddy's 4: The Final Chapter announced

Five Nights at Freddy's 4: The Final Chapter has been officially announced by series creator Scott Cawthon.

Due this Halloween, this will ostensibly be the last game in the Five Nights saga, though a feature film is planned with Warner Bros and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter scribe Seth Grahame-Smith producing.

This fourth entry will have the longest development time of any Five Nights sequel, as the second game in the series debuted in November, only three months after the original. Five Nights 3 came out in March, only four months after its predecessor.
