The Eurogamer Expo 2009 welcomed over one thousand people in its first hour, as day one of the Leeds event sets off at a blistering pace.

From left to right: registration girls "Melly" and Laura.

"We have had one-thousand, one-hundred and fifty-nine people through the door in one hour and five minutes," said registration co-chief Laura. "Lovely people," she added, "who love videogames." Laura likes DS games, fact fans. Bit stereotypical.

Tom Champion, 29, Expo organiser, said the event was going "really well". The message for Eurogamer readers, he added, is "wish you were here?"

Eurogamer overlord Rupert Loman agreed the event was "going very well". [Can you make up better quotes for these people, please? - Ed] "I'm looking forward to a beer tonight," he yearned.

The cast of Emmerdale have even been spotted. We're trying to hunt them down for comment now.
