Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian Games has revealed the first gameplay footage of its new project, Tribal Towers.

The title sees players competing to build the highest structure.

As well as some World of Goo-style building there are other support structures to use, such as huts for extra villagers who aid your construction, or a sawmill to process wood.

Three resources exist in the game to use for building: wood, stone and iron.

Tribal Towers is played against a competitor, and there's a gauge on screen at all times to track the height of each player's building. As you pass certain points you'll unlock new items - or weapons to attack the opponent at the end of the round.

Ruffian announced the project last month while mentioning the studio was not working on Crackdown 3. The developer has been working on a number of smaller jobs since Crackdown 2 for other companies, before starting Tribal Towers itself.

"To be perfectly frank it's been a mixed bag for us at Ruffian," Ruffian co-founder Billy Thomson explained. "Most of the work was genuinely a lot of fun to be part of and we're proud of our contributions, but some of it was a bit of a pain in the hairy tits."
