Shivering Isles on Xbox Live!

Pity Xbox Live is down then.

Shivering Isles - Bethesda's first big expansion pack for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - has launched on Xbox Live, but unless you noticed it last night then this information will be useless to you for another 13 hours.

That's because the expansion, weighing in at 993.75MB according to the good Major, along with the rest of Xbox Live, is down for maintenance until 10pm GMT. So if you want to spend 2400 Microsoft points (GBP 20.40 / EUR 27.91) on Shivering Isles, you'll have to wait until then.

Meanwhile, the PC version is due out in Europe on Friday, 30th March, and will cost about the same - or maybe a few quid less if you shop around, or do the shopkeep a special favour behind the counter.

As for what's in it - well, you'll be wanting to read our first impressions, or watch the last section of Eurogamer TV Show 8, where we talk to Pete Hines, to find that out.

Having held Rob at arm's length and then used sophisticated audio tools to extract sense from an otherwise impenetrable wall of spittle and nonsense, it sounds like it's 30 hours of new gameplay in the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness, with new quests, creatures, weapons and other things. Expect a review very soon.
