Crytek has announced a virtual reality game called Robinson: The Journey.

The game was announced by the official Twitter account for the game.

"Assume the role of a young boy who has crash-landed on a mysterious planet in Robinson: The Journey, a brand new virtual reality game from Crytek," the blurb said.

The game's new website expanded, adding:

"Go beyond boundaries in Robinson: The Journey, a brand new virtual reality game from Crytek. Harnessing the power of CryEngine, Robinson: The Journey will offer players an unparalleled sense of presence in a game world as they assume the role of a young boy who has crash-landed on a mysterious planet.

"With freedom to explore their surroundings in 360 degrees of detail, players will become pioneers by interacting with the rich ecosystem around them and unearthing incredible secrets at every turn."

Crytek had been demoing a VR experience called Back to Dinosaur Island earlier this year. The Robinson description suggests similarities, but how similar the two things are we'll have to wait and see.

No platforms were announced but as it's a VR game, and Xbox One doesn't currently have a VR headset, that seems to rule that system out. Maybe we'll hear more about it at Sony's conference in the wee hours of the UK morning.
