Code Name: STEAM update speeds up enemy turn times

Even faster if you have a New 3DS.

Nintendo has issued an update for turn-based 3DS strategy Code Name: STEAM which allows you to speed up the game's lengthy enemy turn times.

Those playing on a traditional 3DS or 3DS XL will be able to increase enemy turns by double their standard amount.

But those with a New 3DS or New 3DS XL can speed through enemy turns at triple speed - almost 200cc.

Developed by Fire Emblem and Advance Wars studio Intelligent Systems, Code Name: STEVE launched in North America earlier this year.

A mix of strategy and third-person shooter mechanics with a steampunk fantasy graphical style, the game is due to launch in Europe next month. Presumably, this update will be available on day one.

"The moment it clicked for me, tellingly, is the moment it started to feel like Advance Wars," Chris Donlan wrote in Eurogamer's Code Name: STEAM preview.

"You know the feeling: when the enemy's turn plays out in the fog of war and you just hear them out there, jets latticing the sky, engines chugging in the deep. Strategy games are always about paranoia, and nothing heightens the paranoia so much as this."
