Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Wil Wheaton will lend his vocal talents to 3DS-exclusive strategy title Code Name: STEAM.

Wheaton plays the role of US president Abraham Lincoln, the founder of Unit STEAM (short for Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace).

A turn-based strategy title set in an alternate universe steampunk version of London, Code Name: STEAM is due to launch in Europe on 15th May.

It's the latest title from Intelligent Systems, the studio behind Nintendo franchises such as Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Paper Mario and Wario Ware.

"After waiting almost a year to be able to talk about it, Nintendo of America has announced that I play the voice of Abraham Lincoln in their insanely awesome 3DS title, Code Name: STEAM," Wheaton wrote on his blog.

"I am extremely proud of this game, and I can't wait to play it. It's got a great balance of humour and strategy, and there may be some awesomely weird stuff in it, too."

Wheaton is no stranger to the world of games, having voiced the role of Curtis in Double Fine's Broken Age, Richard Burns in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Robobrain in Fallout: New Vegas.

You may also have seen him hosting the web series TableTop, discussing board and card games, or in his recurring role on The Big Bang Theory.
