Inspiring Spelunky savant Bananasaurus_Rex has just set a new world record in Mossmouth's incredible action-roguelike Spelunky.

With an astounding final score of $3,105,850, he's streets ahead of the now second-place record of $2,980,000. It only took him seven and a half hours to complete this history-making playthrough.

Previously Bananasaurus_Rex made Spelunky news when he was the first person to ever complete the elusive solo eggplant run, then he made headlines again by being the first Spelunky player to kill the ghost (or at least to capture video footage of it). One has to wonder then, what's next for who is hands down the greatest Spelunky player in the world?

Check out the full record-setting run below, but be prepared to wait for quite some time as acquiring a score of this magnitude requires the patience of a saint, for Bananasaurus_Rex must lure the ghost to each and every gem he comes across to convert them into more valuable crystals.
