UPDATE 2: Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has suggested the PS Vita TV device will be released outside of Japan - eventually.

In the wake of the announcement of the Vita TV various Sony executives indicated the Japanese company had no plan to release Vita TV in the West. This morning Yoshida addressed the issue.

"For people wondering about PS Vita TV outside Japan, we are just saying now 'PS Vita TV releasing first in Japan'," he tweeted. "Stay tuned."

UPDATE 1: Sony has now detailed the list of PlayStation Vita titles compatible with PS Vita TV. The line-up is extensive but not exhaustive, and some key titles are missing.

We couldn't spot a number of high-profile exclusives such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush or WipEout. Third-party games not mentioned include Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, Need for Speed and Rayman Legends.

The possibility remains that Sony will patch-in support for more titles at a later date. And, of course, this list may differ should the device release elsewhere.

ORIGINAL STORY: Sony has just announced PlayStation Vita TV, a small device that will allow you to play PlayStation Vita games on your telly.

It'll cost 9480 yen (Ł63) and launch on 14th November.

The box has a slot for PlayStation Vita cards and will also be able to access other digital services such as Hulu.

It can also play PS4 titles via Remote Play.

Sony mentions that PlayStation Vita TV is launching in Japan "before other regions", suggesting a release elsewhere is possible. A SCEE spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning: "We've not made any announcement about whether the 2000 series & Vita TV will be releasing in the UK / Europe."

A pack including a wireless DualShock 3 controller and 8GB memory card will also be available for 14,994 yen (Ł96).

A full list of technical specifications lies below.
