PlayStation 3 F2P shooter Dust 514 finally has a release date

Out next month.

PlayStation 3 free-to-play shooter Dust 514 launches on 14th May 2013, developer CCP Games has announced.

Dust 514 is a free download that connects to Eve Online, the space trading PC MMO also made by CCP Games.

The studio said players can expect an "ever-progressing" game that will be updated with new features and upgrades for years to come.

"Reaching this point has required many years, hundreds of CCP employees, and the engagement of millions of players who contributed fantastic feedback during the beta process," said CCP boss Hilmar Veigar Pétursson.

"Now we start the real journey, which, decades from now, we will look back on with astonishment at all we accomplished. The Eve Universe will outlive us all."

Dust 514 players can coordinate with Eve Online pilots to call in orbital strikes against opposing squads. It's all part of the massive persistent universe in which Eve is set.

Up to 32 players can fight on the same battlefield. You can customise your character with dropsuits, skills and weapons. You can also build a corporation with thousands of players.
