Mad Catz MVC3 stick GameShark exclusive

May come to other retailers in due course.

Want to play upcoming three-on-three fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with its officially-licensed fighting stick? Then there's only one place you can buy it.

The officially licensed, Mad Catz produced Marvel VS Capcom 3 Arcade FightStick will be sold exclusively from Mad Catz' own online shop.

The stick will appear on GameShark.net "shortly", Mad Catz told Eurogamer this afternoon. It "may" be sold by other shops "in due course".

Mad Catz was also keen to point out that the Marvel Versus Fighting Pad, from Performance Designed Products (PDP), is not officially licensed by Capcom.

It is, however, officially licensed by Marvel.

"Mad Catz would like to take this opportunity to remind gamers that we are the sole company manufacturing and distributing an officially licensed 'Marvel VS Capcom 3' video game controller," Alex Verrey, Mad Catz global PR and communications manager, told Eurogamer.

"The Mad Catz Marvel VS Capcom 3 Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition uses genuine arcade grade Sanwa Denshi components, features official artwork taken directly from the game and is a 'Collectors Edition' product, limited to a production run of just 5000 individually numbered units. The Stick is on the way as we speak and will be appearing on the store shortly."

Confusion was sparked yesterday by UK online shop GamingZap, which issued a press release claiming Mad Catz's fighting stick and PDP's fighting pad wouldn't release in the UK due to "licensing issues and various other problems".

Speaking to Eurogamer, GamingZap said its information was based on news given to it by "various distributors".

Mad Catz refuted this claim, promised its officially licensed stick will be available to buy alongside the game next Friday, and distanced itself from the PDP pad.

"We would also like to point out that the Marvel VS Capcom 3 Arcade FightStick is NOT in any way related to the recently announced 'Marvel Versus' Controller," Verrey added.

"This product is not designed, manufactured or distributed by Mad Catz and is not an officially licensed Marvel VS Capcom product."
