Take-Two has announced Wing Commander Prophecy for Game Boy Advance, reuniting Blair, Maniac and Rachel to defend the universe from enemy assault. Etc. Where's Mark Hammill!?

As PC gamers will probably be well aware, Wing Commander means space combat with an "epic" story. In this case, Take-Two is promising a diverse, memorable range of characters whose future is entirely dependent on how well you fight alongside them. They could die! Thanks to the branching campaign built around your success or failure, the story can end in a number of different ways.

You'll be playing as Lance Casey, a rookie pilot (with nine unique ships to handle throughout the game) fighting the hordes of alien aggressors alongside other confederation pilots in his squadron. There are a full 48 missions to unlock and play in the single-player game, and Take-Two is also promising a multi-player dog-fighting mode for up to four players.

Also on the game's side are its 3D visuals, which use the "Blue Roses" engine apparently, which slings polygons, textures and special effects about that might frighten off other titles. You can see for yourself in an early batch of screenshots released this week. Code will be available to us shortly, says Take-Two, so hopefully this means the game will be out in the very near future.
