XBLA Summer of Arcade games get dates
Trials HD! Marvel vs. Capcom 2! Etc.!
Major Nelson has revealed a bundle of release dates for this year's Summer of Arcade titles over on his blog.
First up is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-shelled. It's a spruced up version of the arcade beat-em-up and is being released on 22nd July.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will arrive a week later, complete with 56 characters. Make Ryu and Wolverine fight each other in glorious HD. There are online multiplayer and tag-team options.
Coming on 5th August is Splosion Man. The titular character can "splode himself at will", taking out everything around him in the process. There are more than 50 single-player and 50 multiplayer levels to play through.
Trials HD will arrive on 12th August - it's a m0t0rb1k3 racer with over 50 tracks and two modes. You can customise your character, create your own tracks and share them online.
And finally, Shadow Complex will be available from 19th August. It's the XBLA title Epic showed off at E3 - a side-scrolling adventure game with more than 10 hours of gameplay on offer.
With the exception of Splosion Man, all the titles mentioned above will cost 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40). Sposion Man comes in at 800 Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60).

A lot of them are also more than 3 times bigger.

True, but the quality of the XBLA games has increased even more. I will probably buy all of these.
edit: Dizzy and Gnort kind of made my point.

True, but you said threefold. So you must have been refering to games like Timepilot, Galaga and Dig Dug. The newly released Sega games is 400 a piece and are of the same quality and price as the old 400 point games. And 800 for Rez HD was remarkable.

I bought Red Faction a few weeks back and it's been collecting dust, where as my copy of Worms Armageddon I've barely stopped playing.

Nah I got BC: Rearmed on the day of release and it's always been 800 points but personally I think it's worth 1200 points. When you consider the scale of these upcoming games though I think 1200 points is very reasonable.

Huh?
Upscaling is little more than a piece of software stretching the graphics to a set size, it's not exactly the same thing as remastering a game in proper HD with redrawn sprites, etc. Any graphics card can scale graphics easily, it requires little or no effort on the part of the developer and it certainly does NOT justify a higher price point IMO.
I'll probably pick up Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for old time's sake as it was a favourite of mine from my Dreamcast days and is possibly the only 2D fighting game I've ever really liked. I'd still have preferred it to be 800 MP not 1200 MP though. Or rather the PS3 equivalent because that's the format I'm going for as I prefer the controller for these kinds of games.

Well its a great game and easily worth the 1200 to me and i bet a lot of others. Think of a world where all products where priced only from their production costs. I bet a lot of expensive clothing brands would be a lot cheaper.

I agree with the 1200 MSP price point for the games, as the article states Shadow Complex has more than 10 hours of gamplay, thats about the same as most retail games these days.

Edit - bet you all own ST's

Wish some of these 1200pt games were released in disc format.

Might bite on that one kinda wish they touched up the original tho, it looks awful on live
(I'll get more neg but am I the only MvC2 fan not convinced with the new one from the demo - looks kinda funny. Small just not quite right)
